It is obvious from reading your post, and a quick look through your blog, that you have not worked in the IT field, and thus -- do not know what you're talking about. Me working for peanuts is not good for me, and I can't imagine how a low-wage earner of any career is good for the economy (except for banks). Also, I've noticed that when I reduce my rate, people not hire me, even if I'm starving. Crank the rate back up, and I find myself consistantly employed. I don't like being treated like a slave laborer, either.

Lots of spam that I see comes from Russia, or China, and there isn't much that can be done about it. THe biggest majority of those I get are zipfile attachments with some bogus message -- viruses or whatnot. I'd like a procmail script that turns each spam message into a unique lawsuit -- any takers?

You see, I had none of that. No chemistry, no calc, no trig. Instead, I got random insignifigant battles, simple science things that were wrong (blood cells break open on the sharp edges of broken vessels to clot), no physics, no astronomy. I did have some random teachers that were sense-making, and actually educational -- I've read Shakespeare, and some classics that stuck. Lots of teachers stressing memorization, which I found useless. I tell my SO that I would've been fine coming out of 6th grade, and going off to college. I wasn't some special smarty wizz kid, but a normal interested human. I found my education at 8 different schools a bit lacking, and left to get my GED when I was legally allowed.

Noone said anthing about heat! I once cooked a burrito on an old 4g Seagate Barracuda. You know the one I'm talking about, with the big metal grille on the front. You see, I was at work, and tinkering with my Sparc 5 workstation, when I realized the fan in the external drive had failed, but not my home directory, upon which it lived. Well, of course I had a burrito handy, and figured that once I did a nice fsck -- twice -- that I'd be reasonably okay, so I put the burrito in the front of the bezel, where the faceplate is supposed to go, bounced the workstation, and started the fsck. Then I went outside to smoke cigarettes. After smoking for a while, and socializing with people, the burrito was no longer frozen, but HOT! Voila, instant sysadmin lunch. Ramen noodles are just as easy, simply take...

I find Wikipedia quite informative, and easy to get to. I don't see what the problem is, or why those people want to class-action Wikipedia. I've learned a bunch of things by browsing, and investigating things mentioned in the articles. Even if Wikipedia were a little bit innacurate, it would certainly beat out my first 8 years of education, where I've found almost all of the science I've learned is actually wrong (by talking to scientists, and reading books, and wikipedia).

Every time I've succombed to people's opinions about Qmail, and how great it is, and want to give it a try, I am again reminded that sendmail already works, is already installed, and already configured, and that I've just fucked up everything by installing Qmail. Yet another reason for "distributed microcasting", to avoid the crackdown from the FCC. Actually, I think it is cheaper to have a TV station license, that a radio station license. I sure wish the FCC would grant us some of those unused channels. What a perfect way to make use of old TV sets -- tune in to local content.
