it very rarely rains!
I have lived in Sydney for my first 21 years or so, the only rain in summer comes after a scorching hot day.. at which point you gladly welcome its cooling effect!
Since Hong Kong has the largest number of tall buildings, I suppose this is kind of obvious. But we already have elevators which ask for your destination before getting in (such as "Exchange Square" Towers 1, 2 and 3) We also have double decker elevators in buildings such as "2 IFC". Of course, we also have some ridiculously stupid elevators, such as the one in the building where I work. There are two lifts servicing each floor, however, they are totally independant of each other.. the result? if you want a lift you always press BOTH buttons.. needless to say, this results in a lot of wasted trips for the lift.
While we're on the topic, why don't more lifts "auto-home" (return to the first floor) and keep their doors open? -- I hate walking into smelly lifts..
Jar-Jar and the prequels "needed" to happen so that Toys'R'Us could squeeze that bit more Star Wars junk on the shelves.
This article is a load of rubbish, unless of course if it is satire, in which case it is great. That's a big "if" ladies and gentlemen.
Not suprising - any idea what NTFS 5 is capable

It seems people are forgetting about the "almost there" aspects of NTFS 5..
NTFS junction points are useful for alternate mounting. The point of some key Windows Services are built for exactly this purpose.. Distributed Link Tracking and Object Identifiers Reparse points are handy too... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb; EN-US;q205524
NTFS is a great file system, you just need to read the documentation..
Actually, now that I have tabbed MSN chats, it's very good indeed. However, I do run Trillian also, but only because I need to run several accounts at one time (work/personal etc.). The problem with trillian is I lose messages from time to time, check the trillian forums, this has always been their weakness.
Yahoo, just plain ugly but has always been the most reliable in terms of files/webcam getting through firewalls.
ICQ, they have finally succeeded... in making the client as bloated and ugly as their website, I credit AOL for this amazing effort.
Google Talk - excuse me?, are you kidding, I haven't seen such a feature-less messenger since 1997.
I don't even see why the ROCKR is an interesting product.. there are numerous alternatives which are much better.
Case in my point, my new phone, the Sony Ericsson K750i. Fantastic phone.
Pro's
- Bluetooth
- MP3
- Radio
- Fast interface
- All the other features you could want in a phone
- Large capacity (via the Sony Memory Stick Duo)
- Can sync with Windows Media player etc
- Can sync with Outlook
- Memory stick appears as a mass storage device
Con's
- I need to use Sony Memory Stick, I prefer SD cards..
- need to use the damn proprietary connector for the headphones (although this has been "fixed" in the after-market arena
just my thoughts, but there are definately better products than this new motorola thing.
I have been living in Hong Kong for the past few years.. We have a place called Mong Kok which is one of the most densely populated places on Earth.
From Wiki :
With one of the highest population densities in the world (It once attained 130 thousand people per square km, though the actual population didn't attain that much. Apparently the district was smaller than 1 square km).
MK sells everything, in terms of "electrical" stuff, it would be enough to make the most season Akihabara shopper quiver.
My point is, I found Akihabara quite a let down when I visited.
For a true shopping extravaganza, try Mong Kok, HK.
I'm not sure about the rest of the fleet, but the aircraft servicing London-Hong Kong-Sydney (airbus 340-600) have power sockets available.
The crew will even let you borrow AC adapters (they have them available for the common models)
I used to fly Cathay Pacific back to Sydney... not anymore, these new airbus are fantastic.
this year I opted for the following option -
- %25 salary increase
- shorter working hours
At the expense of -
- not having to solve customer problems
- not needing to work crazy IT hours
- not needing to work in 'off peak' times such as weekends
By moving out of the IT department into one of those customer facing kiss-ass jobs..
good for a change at least i think!
I am at work. So, reading slashdot does not replace my free-time social activities, rather it replaces boring work-related activities.
I just thought it wasn't all that amusing, rather an attempt at being amusing. Of course, I realise this is my own opinion, and that is what I am expressing. I think theonion is much more humourous
Seriously folks, this proves almost nothing. This guy really needs to find something better to occupy his time with, ideas include polishing the spoons, re-arranging the sock drawer and cleaning the fridge.
We all know the best way to screw a Windows XP SP2 user is to convince them to turn off the firewall..
Let's not forget that Windows XP executes parts of the boot sequence in parallel, have a look at the pretty output from bootvis to see it in action. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/platform/perfo rmance/fastboot/default.mspx
of course, with Windows quick booting is important whether you're on a notebook or not... (note:no blue screens on Windows XP so far for me)
yes, you are correct. However, you have overlooked one tiny detail.. my original post was in jest, attention to detail was not on the agenda. but thanks for your amendment.
Same thing happened to me, old boss owed money etc..
They called me one day to do some stuff...
I explained they had outstanding bills and my current hourly rate was now double the previous.
They agree, and we were both happy.

which is actually what I did in December ...
Sydney in Summer is heaven!
and besides, i don't live in the USA.
I wonder if you are in Australia? .. Leuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay isn't very easy to find outside of Aus (in my experience anyway)...

just my 2 HK cents.
you haven't tried rainbow crack with a big enough database yet...
Especially since the K750 can be firmware upgraded to the W800...
And yes, I do own a K750, fantastic phone.
