Because it's highly inefficient and would require thousands of square miles of land to work. We need to harness such a reaction here where we can squeeze 50% or more of the energy out of it.
If they're dishonest in one area, well, they're dishonest, period. You'll get dicked over if you stay there.
Frankly, I have no qualms about calling the BSA about places like this....
The issue is that many people won't buy health insurance until they need it. That fundamentally breaks the model because insurance depends on having a pool of healthy people paying but not costing anything. The legislation kind of makes up for that by forcing everybody to buy health insurance (with threats of jail or heavy fines if they don't), but ultimately that will screw poor people who don't have money to buy it.
Yes, they most likely had sex, but it may or may not have been consensual. It's likely that humans and neanderthals fought at some point, and part of war has pretty much always been having your way with the women on the losing side. I'm not condoning this, just pointing out the obvious.
Tell the Taliban. If your idea of "peace" is women being executed in the soccer stadium, beatings for wearing makeup, and education denied to all females, maybe we should just leave and let them sort it out again.
I know it doesn't fit the left-wing world-view, but sometimes peace only comes by getting rid of those who fight against it.
Will a bill such as this endanger publishing companies in the same way Internet journalism endangers traditional journalism?"
Yep. That's why it'll never pass - expect large amounts of money to flow into key campaign coffers to put an end to this nonsense before it gets started. At some point we need to have congressmen who aren't bought and paid for by special interests.
By the way - for those of you who say "yeah, but this open source stuff is a special interest, too", no, it isn't. It's a *general interest*. It benefits everybody but a select few, rather than benefiting a select few at the expense of everybody else.
It probably will - it's a small claim. Around here they're filed for $50 or so, definitely worth it in a case like this. Since the slimeballs won't show up, anyway, you'll get a default judgement against them (you'll win even if they do show up, but they won't) then you get to play debt collector with them.
I use zebra printers with a couple of clients - Linux + CUPS, no problem. You can find them online dirt cheap, just clean the rollers with alcohol to get them printing good.
Microsoft now says that they had already been on the path for several months toward releasing the software under GPLv2 before Kroah-Hartman got in touch.
I wish I had time to dig up the article, but 9.5 years ago when I paid their passport.com bill, they claimed that they had figured out the problem internally, and when they went to pay, well, by golly, it was already paid.
And windows users don't have to do any of those things either. Every piece of anti-virus software under the sun updates itself, completely without any human intervention, at some god awful time of night so as to avoid doing it while you may be using your computer. Similarly, right out of the box windows runs a scheduled weekly disk degrag at something like 3 am every wednesday or some other silly time.
Impressive. My Macs and Linux machines are turned off at 3AM.
Every night at about 2AM, an officer would walk down main street, not sure how far as it was about 2 miles through town, but I'd see him out there checking the doors of each business as he walked. I don't see how this is so different. It's actually nice, for me, to see police proactively trying to help people rather than abusing minorities and poor people.
AT&T even has some BS verbage on their statements that says charges not disputed within 60 days can't be disputed. So they can ream someone for years, and then if the company finds out, they can only recoup the last 60 days worth of over charges.
They can say whatever they want, doesn't mean it'll hold up in court.

Shouldn't this be in the "no-shit-sherlock" department?
My business can't afford to buy an office tower downtown, so, we don't do it. See how that works?

But they'll take a guy's car if he's caught buying marijuana from an undercover cop.

Yeah, I mean, that worked for Arafat...
Um, because Canada is a state or something? Wait, what? Oh, never mind...
Yes, but he's wrong. He's probably already been contacted by ambulance chasers, but falsely claiming copyright is a crime.

Google is simply "embracing and extending" IE's functionality, right?
Hey, as long as they remember the "extinguish" step, I'll support the effort...
The REAL question is... did you get some?
He's posting on Slashdot. Why do you even ask?
I always heard this about AT&T/T-Mobile long before the iPhone came out...

Same theme, new problem.
Impressive. My Macs and Linux machines are turned off at 3AM.
No offense, but you can't win...
Has that *ever* worked?
(in case you're scratching your head, the answer is "no")
By the time an artist sells a song, they'll owe Microsoft money.

He spelled "Muphry's" just fine. The problem is that he misspelled "Murphy's".
