It's unfortunate that macromedia takes such crap from people for flash. I don't see people attacking Visual Studio for the existence of spyware, trojans and buggy applications.
The gripes with flash are completely the fault of the developers. Flash is an intelligent application with great potential for online games, audio and video, interactive forms, etc. If web developers decide to use its power in idiotic ways, blame the web site not Macromedia.
This new technology from Macromedia will make it easy for my band to make a little app that plays music and shows band pics, and I don't need a CS degree to build it. And it will work on a Mac, Windows and maybe even Linux. I can't see anything worng with this.
They're looking for a place outside of the DMCA's reach. The moon is about to become a big one-stop-shop of VCD's and DVD-r's of the new Matrix and Lord of the Rings movies.
Even more interesting is the Variax, a guitar that contains a software algorithm to model other guitars. Plugged in, the guitar can sound like a banjo, sitar, '58 Gibson Les Paul, Telecaster, Acoustic 12 string, you get the picture. As in the amps, its not 100% of the original, but this terrain is akin to where we were with computers in 1980.
As a dedicated PowerBook TiBook user, I hope this CPU can still provides great battery life, as in the G3 and G4. I love my PowerBook, and even a G4 is a pleasure in OS X. Go Stebe!
OK so here's my thing: Tax money was used to subsidize laying down the copper for the telcos, but wasn't it also used to help the cable companies run cable to my house? In my neighborhood the phone lines and cable tv lines run off the same poles. This reasons that the cable companies should also be forced to allow competition on those lines. (Or maybe not anymore, as in this ruling). Why treat the 2 any differently anymore?
This is why someday wireless is going to be king. Can't wait.
Problem is you're booting off a chip, not the hard drive, so where would you save your drivers, assuming you could download them? Maybe a firewire or USB drive, or the network? Sounds complicated. Just use another computer.
My friend got busted for this, because he bought a smart card programmer online. DTV sued the company (Whiteviper) and became owner of all their assets. They then tried to extort money from all the people who had purchased the smart card programmer. Thing is, there are legit reasons to own it. Blank smart cards not compatible with DTV for example. And, my friend never used the programmer to steal satellite. In the end he ignored their extortion efforts and they seem to have let it go.
What has happened to fair use? I think that politicians and their campaign funds have as much to do with this than the pirates.
Message to computer users and the non-techies: We the techies are smarter than you, and we like to prove it. If you don't understand my new program, it's obviously because you're stupid. Move along now.
Up until today I thought I had the worst G4 Powerbook story. I dropped it and cracked it into pieces the day after I bought it. (Yes the day after). It's at the Apple repair depot right now. But this story makes me feel like a much more intelligent individual.
Google's "competitors" are not. Yahoo is now a portal for email and stock quotes. Overture makes money by charging businesses for position in the search results. This is a different approach, because Google's search listings are not compromised. Ads are clearly labeled. Google is wildly profitable too, although Overture breaks a little better than even, hence so much attention by the media. Google has little real "competition", rather "imitators".
Plus, on holidays they have cool little themes for their logo.
Safari is a little over 3MB, Mozilla...well, you know if you're reading this. Chimera is great, and OS X already has a good mail client. The choice is obvious to me, K being so lightweight. Safari flies, had it been gecko people would just say "Why not continue using Chimera?". I think it was a good move. Now if I could only afford Stebe's new tiny laptop.
It's possible that the big surprise at MacWorld everyone's expecting might be a Firewire 2 based storage unit to complement Xserv. And now that Rendevous is available, maybe it'll work with Windows networks too.
It's a better idea than the video IPod, anyways.
There's still a lot of punk bands making vinyl. I like how it looks and how it sounds. Go into an independent record store and you just might find a punk vinyl section with some new stuff, even major punk bands like NOFX still put out vinyl releases.
My band Black Monday just did a run of 1000 7 inch vinyl singles (in red vinyl!) on a label named split seven records. Check out the site.

ALERT: There is still known vulnerabilities with the Cha Cha Cha, the Cabbage Patch, and especially the Boogaloo. You've been warned.
How can we be sure those dudes in Amsterdam weren't just stoned and imagining things?

But all these things need drivers, software, etc. Isn't plugging in another hard drive just as easy?

My email and pager is blowing up with chicks that need me to fix their printer, email, etc. That makes me popular, right?

Get punk rock!

If Apple had released this, it would be on the front cover of Time magazine.

The biggest reason I buy online is to save on taxes.

Real nerds get their music from Radio 76
I understand that a lot of gay men listen to Madonna. That funny because their choice of computer (it's so stylish!) is often a ...
nevermind.

Guess they gotta do something with those pay phones now that everyone has a cell phone.
