    For some values of better... like fuel efficiency. I am sure it is worse for some things.

    I am sure you are right. I stand corrected and will stick to software... all I know is my 240V twist lock plug can power the server rack. (Don't worry I am nowhere near overloading it, and my smoke detectors will work just fine for the week it needs to be here.)

    Did you know you can get 440...

    No, but you can get 220 from two different outlets, if they are on different circuits and you have 3 phase wiring to your building. You need to make a really nasty "Y" shaped extension cord thingy and plug two ends of the Y into different sockets... probably not OSHA approved.

    But, what the hell, you wouldn't make such a thing if you didn't want a 220 outlet in a building only wired for 110, right? :-)

    If they can spell their own names, of course they will be a whiz at regular words. "Bill", "Joe", and "Mary" haven't a chance against "Dhananjay" "Jagannatha" or "Chandrakanta".

    1) Hand out hockey sticks.
    2) Wait for someone with a graph and utters the words "like a hockey stick" when describing said graph (usually while wildly gesturing and telling you why X is such a good investment, why you should stick with the company, or why "it is different, this time").
    3) Beat that person with the stick from step 1.
    4) Sorry, no profit, but less pain; Widows and orphans are spared... At the very least it is good cardio and even if you are jailed, you get free room and board.

    Yup - I've been anonymous on the Internet, since, well, since it was Darpanet, or uucp, or whatever it was. Call me paranoid, but even way back in the day, I always wondered, "why would I want anyone to know X, about me?"

    If you are writing me a check, I'll give you enough info so I can cash it, otherwise, meh. Even my cable bill has a misspelling in my name I have not corrected in 14 years.

    P.S. NotQuiteReal, is not my real name... Proud alias-using "lurker" on the Internet/Usenet since 1982 (or before...)

    I've never seen the show either, but I imagine most shows with a "story" would run into this problem.

    If you have the most awesome story, and make it a TV show, it could be great... until the story is over, but since it was successful "TV", more shows get ordered... but the story was already told, so you have no choice but to make stuff up. (And you have to do it on a schedule, whereas the first one might have taken years to conceive.)

    Same reason most movie sequels suck too.

    Hey, lightspeed IS awesome.

    Note, however, that only information is sent, not the actual "item".

    The implication, of course is if you can "transmit" an arbitrary item, you can, by definition duplicate it. So, when we have this technology, you will be able to "have your cake and eat it too".

    Oddly it will also be the most altruistic, or selfish thing you can ever do. Consider; altruistic - you send a "copy" of yourself to do something cool. selfish, nasty task? send a "copy", not "you".

    This might be problematic for some folks.
