I did the same for about a month when I moved into an apartment with some friends. We didn't get around to getting internet hooked up for a long time, and I missed it for the first week, but eventually, I didn't even care.
You know, this reminds me of one time when an apartment building in our neighborhood was burning. Sure, you felt sorry to see it burn, and you felt sorry to see the people who lived there get hurt, but man, it's really fun to watch a building burn!
Really, there was one guy in the group who came out in a lawn chair with a six pack and watched it all happen. Raised his beer with a "Hell yea!" when the wooden frame structure collapsed.
Except your neighbor isn't suing everyone in the neighborhood, claiming everyone stole from him, and all that happened in the first place is his phone line got cut. You took that way out of proportion.
No, I don't have any sympathy for SCO, they brought it on themselves. I'll feel sorry when Darl's personal life is ruined.
I had to wait on something at the bank on the 16th and picked up the Wall Street Journal and was a little surprised to see mention of linux, but it is becoming less and less rare.
That is very true. I use it as my default browser for both my linux box at home and my windows box at work.
I've installed it as the default browser on my dad's system, and him and the rest of the family is starting to get the hang of it and liking it. Everyone I show it to enjoy the many features of Firebird. My sister thought I was running some supercomputer with how fast it was running (optimized in gentoo), and I hear plenty of conversion stories from my co-workers.
tis a sad day to be a Utah'n...
trust me, Hatch is not staying in the chair, not if I have anything to do with it.
this isn't the first time he's fucked up really bad in the last few months.
not only that, but I pay $11/mo to play this game... I was one who was ported to the bottom of the ocean, then to "green acres" to be killed by mobs...
I'm paying the money for the entertainment... this is not entertainment. If things like this were left alone, it would just keep happening making my payment worthless, and my time wasted.
That's just me, now apply that to 1000 other players who were also in that predicament. There were also newb players killed over and over again by my guild's guards in a safehold. They lost any items they were wearing because of constant damage to destruction. Who know's if they will ever find new items of equivalent value. Some people make real life money from selling that stuff in game. Many put $ values of this stuff.
First off, I've seen this stupid idea a million times, and everytime, I have to say that I've never seen anyone who keeps confidential information on their personal computers at home. When I use Quicken or GNUCash, I don't put my checking account numbers AND my social security number into the computer. I put a name for my checking account, and neither ever even ask for confidential information like your social security number, or your password to access your banking account online.
That being said, any hacker that wastes their time to hack into someone's personal WiFi link just to real their e-mail saying "Honey, I'll drop by the store after work to pick up something for dinner, so I'll be a little late" is an idiot. Wardriving was so last year.
I dunno if any research has been done, but is it possible that they are taking offers from Chinese companies to block competitors' sites?
I'm probably wrong on this, but it seems like one of 2 main possible reasons to do so.
One of our more recent LANs being scheduled is 36 hours strait (which I guess really isn't too uncommon), but I wonder if I can claim I had a near death experience after that?
Maybe only half dead... guess it's a challenge, now there will be more competition to see who can beat the 86 hour record, hehe.
There are free community wireless projects all going up, and they can't fail because they don't rely on revenue. Talking with these people setting it up, they won't accept contracts with businesses to do advertising of any kind. It's a pure network like your home LAN, all based on charity and whoever has the equipement to help out.
Introducing a wireless network with advertising is going to go down the hole. Especially with these community wireless projects popping up in most major cities.
Did everyone miss the announcement here on /. 2-3 weeks ago?
Google Acquires Keyhole Corp
Aside from the announcement of Google Scholar, the rest shouldn't of been in the story.
I've been waiting months for this, and now I get to wait a few more.
I've had the japanese version for a long time, but could never translate it for myself no matter how hard I tried =(.

I agree they deserve to lose, but the MPAA has no rights to the profits made on the software.
