  10. I wouldn't trust the Government with my heath care on Discuss the US Presidential Election & Health Care · · Score: 1

Before you put faith in the Government to handle something as critical as health care, give me one Government program that isn't in a shambles? All of them are wastefull, corrupt, and provide substandard services.
Despite Barack Obama's statement that health care should be a right, it is not written in the Constitution that it is. I am with the Constitution that it isn't a right. If it is, then access to anything is a right. Nobody has a right to anything like a TV, stereo, car, food, house, dog, cat, etc.
I am a very healthy guy and live a healthy lifestyle. I do have health care, but it is a choice for me. If the Government controls health care, then the healthy will be paying the price for the non-healthy, and being healthy or non-healthy (most of the time) is a choice of lifestyle.
As Barack Obama wants to reward people for doing nothing by taking away from people that work two jobs like me, so as to provide a better life for me and the family, then he will reward people who make bad choices and lead un-healthly lifestyles.
Government health care is like a tax on the wealthy, instead, it is a tax on the healthy.
I am not weathly, but will probably be defined as wealthy by Obama if he gets elected. Trust me, if he is elected, he will redefine wealthy at $150,000 or less. I work work hard and choose to spend time away from my family, with maybe two days off a month. I don't work hard to support somebody who chooses not to better themselves.
As a healthy individual, by making choices to live healthy, eat healthy, and exercise regularly. With Government health care, I will be paying higher taxes so I can take care of those that don't live a healthy lifestyle.
Most of the time, being poor is a choice. Most of the time, being un-healthy is a choice.
Don't punish me for making good decisions, as Obama wants to do. Don't reward me for making bad decisions, as Obama wants to do.

  16. I am not surprised on Hard Drive Window · · Score: 1

I remember hearing and reading about the tight spacing between the head and the platter. It was said that a speckle of pollen would destroy the hard drive.

About two years ago, I pulled a computer out of the trash. Powered it up, and the system indicated it had a hard drive problem. While the system was running, I attempted to reseat the cables on the hard drive and found the hard drive was too hot to touch. Figuring the hard drive was toast, I opened it up, and it physically appeared OK. So I left the hard drive open, and reattached it to the system. Powered it up and it started to boot fine. Let it boot up, ran it, watched the heads moving around the platters. Turned it off, put the case back together, and after two years that 20GB hard drive is still solid.

An extra bonus, the person that threw the computer out left some hot (nude) pictures of his girlfriend (I know 'cause she lives really close to me) in some wild poses. It makes porn on the Internet look tame. Thought about giving the pics a date with the Internet. Think twice before thinking your hard drive can't be read.

  17. 10 days isn't enough on Windows User Experiments With Linux for 10 Days · · Score: 1

How long does a person use Windows? For a person to go cold turkey takes way longer than 10 days. I was intially an Amiga user, but knew Windows fairly well 'cause of the job. I got a PC and was using Windows and Amiga. I worked at a company that used Solaris almost exclusively. I found I really liked Unix a lot so I set up RedHat 5.X on my PC and Watchtower on my Amiga. It wasn't my first intro to Linux since I tried a Slackware distro in 95, maybe 96. I started using Linux more and more, and it wasn't until about 2000 that I totally abandoned Windows. That is about three to four years to adjust and I already was very versed in Unix. There are times where I wish I had an app for Linux, but I just adjust and find a way around it. To give a person ten days to go cold turkey is crazy. This is like asking a person that has eaten with thier mouth since birth, to learn to eat with their nose in ten day or starve. Ken
