The notes you just glanced at only show the minor changes between 2.6.9-rc4 and 2.6.9.
There were a lot of changes between 2.6.8[.1] and the 2.6.9 release.
SDL doesn't do surround sound, OpenAL does. OpenAL is open source and works well with SDL applications. It is used in many games, including Unreal Tournament 2004 for Windows, Linux, and Mac. ID didn't use it in Doom 3 because they made their own mixing engine.
It's more than just a few miles. It's a few hundred. It's near Cougar. Last time it blew, Portland (right on the border) wasn't affected besides some ash (not hot ash, just ash).
I live less than 100 miles away from Saint Hellens. The local news is reporting that there have been hundreds of small earthquakes per hour, and they havn't been like this since it blew in 1980.
I can't wait to see what happens!
No, I think you are incorrect. Monkeys split off into homanids, whcich spurred a few failed attempts (neandrathals, hom-habilis, etc) and then finally us.
At least that's how I remember it from high school zoology.
Heh, you are wrong. UnrealEngine 3 will have an OpenGL rendnder for Linux and Mac OS X folk, and Ryan Gordon (icculus) has said on IRC there will be a Linux release. Also, they're doing the editor with WxWidgets so that Linux folks can have a GTK2 build, and Mac guys can have an Aqua version.
Here's how I got it installed and working in Linux:
Download the.zip version ("ro_beta_v2.0_full_installer.zip")
Extract to your ~/.ut2004 directory, so that it's in ~/.ut2004/RedOrchestra
There's a bug with the current Linux release that causes the KarmaData dir in the mod's direcotry not to be searched, so you'll have to copy ~/.ut2004/RedOrchestra/KarmaData/redorchestra.ka to/where/ut2004/is/installed/KarmaData/ if you want people to ragdoll when they die
Start the game with "ut2004 -mod=redorchestra"
I've been playing this game all day, it's lots of fun.
Not true. Gentoo's UT2003 and UT2004 gamecd uses the binary NVIDIA drivers. The license that came witht he drivers also specifically allows redistribution, even repackaging.
You are wrong-wrong-wrong! The nvidia drivers do _not_ work with the fdo xserver. Their server is based on kdrive, which has been around over a year, and the actual fdo xserver has been around for about six months. They've made major changes, adding alpha-transparency and such.
You are way wrong. The freedesktop.org xserver is based off kdrive. They have already implemented alpha-transparency and stuff via their new xcomposite extension.
Except that the IA-64 is a completely different architecutre, and in no way shape or form a desktop browser. AMD has forced intel into doing an x86-64 compatable chip. (Check slashdot artical from a week ago)
Didn't take him too long. Here's a screenshot from Ryan Gordon's ~/.plan.
You're wrong. One is larceny, the other just breaks a contract. The police can't arrest you for the latter.

Errr... 1986, I meant.

Why do you act like a OS X port would be smarter? More gamers use Linux than OS X, and OS X is a lot harder to port to, with the byte order and all.
PS: Sorry. That was rude.
Hahahahahaha WTF!!!
Doesn't typo stand for typographical error? WTF was this guy thinking?
Eye em smar-t lyk brsmith4!i!i!

I live in Vancouver, Washington, too. It's a neat place.
Those screenshots are of Waimea. It's drawing the window decorations with Cairo.

Wouldn't gamers be the last people they would want to target? I mean, we know (or think, at least.) that they have no future.
I stand corrected. I saw that it was hosted at freedesktop.org and jumped to conclusions. Sorry.

He is, MacSoft contracted him. He did UT2003 for MacSoft, too.
They meant Linux-using companies.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, I think I meant desktop processor. Sorry, it was late. :-/

I've heard that a teaspoon of a white-dwarfs matter would weight over 3 tons here on Earth.
