You'd have to be a moron not to question the "No Late Fees" policy. The first thing I did when I saw the ad in the store was ask the checkout guy, "So how does this no-late-fees thing work?"

What they have now is still a better deal than before - now, you can keep the movie for a month, return it, and only be charged a $1.25 restocking fee. Before, you'd be charged the price of a full rental for every extra day you kept it. It looks like a couple of idiots have ruined this deal for the rest of us.

After you install the extension, you should have a "Chipmarks" menu in the top menubar next to your Bookmarks menu. After you log in, this menu is all you need to use to add/edit/delete bookmarks, although you can use the website as well.

You might want to try out Chipmark. It's a service created at the University of Minnesota similar to del.icio.us, but it's open source, and they provide a Firefox/Mozilla extension. It's pretty good, but then again, I might be biased, since I'm part of the development team.

A worthless policy? Aren't stores supposed to, by law, check your signature when you use a CC? So you acted like a child because Cub was doing what they are supposed to? If you don't like it, why don't you stop at an ATM beforehand and get cash to pay for your groceries instead of wasting some stockboy's time when he has to restock your cart full of spoiling food.

  19. Re:Obvious on Inside the Free iPod Offer · · Score: 2, Informative

This isn't as obvious as it sounds. The sites that the article talks about are not the Gratis (e.g., freeipods.com, freegamingsystems.com, freeMiniMacs.com) sites. They are the sites that have the "Hit the target to win an iPod" ads, and then ask you to complete a survey. From what I have seen, it is so obvious that those sites are a waste of time and money, I can't believe anyone tries them.

The Gratis sites are completely legitimate, and it is actually beneficial to complete the offers to get the iPod. I actually got the shipment of my free 1GB iPod Shuffle today (for my fiancee; she was thrilled), and by doing a $1/month trial of Great Fun (I think), I ended up with $20 in Circuit City gift certificates to boot. Hardly a waste of my time, since all I had to do was take 5 minutes to fill out the sign-up form, and then take 5 minutes to call in and cancel (literally, 5 minutes). So in the end, my free iPod Shuffle cost me negative $19 and 10 minutes. Not bad at all.
