Oh Im capable of that, but then I'd have to deal with the updates separately from the official system updates, which is something I 'm not sure I want to do.
It's one of the reaons i prefer Debian and debian-based distros in the first place; Im lazy;)
I tried using Opera because it was significantly faster the FF, but the lack of extensions bugs me, and the widgets aren't anywhere near as useful. I love noScript, URLlink, and a couple of other FF extensions in particular.
And yes, i know Opera can block javascript, but I dont like the implementation or how it handles it when compared to noScript. Im looking forward to getting FF3....but I also plan to stop updating Ubuntu on my laptop at 8.04 LTS (i have an older Thinkpad T40 thats starting to show its age), and wonder if FF3 will be available for it.
id expect the same is true of students. i started at a community college in april, and my space and youtube account for A LOT of traffic on the network. how do i know? the admins have sent out emails once every 3 weeks asking people to tone down use of these sites.
personally, i say black list that kind of thing....meh
jesus h...how can you endorse something you claim infringes upon your own patent? will any sane judge do anything other than throw the case out once they hear about that?
Most slashdotters are familiar with the whole 640k thing, its easy karma now, like in soviet russia jokes and stuff. I once swore id never succumb to it....but really....i *had* to, ok?
The viewpoint is going to come, most likely, from where you grew up. I live on the eastern coast of the US, and *nobody* has a basement. The likelihood of flooding is so high that a basement is a pure waste.
We do, however, have attics, and often they get finished off.
When i lived in Kansas i noticed the opposite of all of this. Most places have a basement, almost nobody has a finished attic.
The reasons why seem pretty obvious.
i had a diamondtron that i ran at 85 pretty regularly, but it was a 19" model that i ran at a higher resolution.
and it looked damn good. i wish i still had it. ive gotten used to the 14" on my laptop....but im not happy and would love a 19" lcd
I just dont watch. Theres very little TV i enjoy, and Im a busy person with school, kids and a job to deal with. If I had a tivo id never get a god damn thing done:-/
Pity, as theres a few things id love to see regularly, but I just dont have the time./netflix is my saviour
As a parent, there's no way in a hell a 7 year old will have a lock down to keep mom and dad out, no responsible parent will allow such a thing, and the machine gets taken away if such a practice is put into place.
You can give them a password to lock others out, just make it a limited, non-admin account and retain admin privileges for yourself. This way (drum-roll) you can keep an eye on them, but they can keep their siblings out. Its not exactly rocket science.
i, for one, would love a x300 (or even a t60) with linux. i can see the market for the air: people who need to do very little with a laptop.
as for me, i do *all* of my computing with my laptop. i want it to be able to do things. i have no interest in a laptop thats smaller than my t40, nor in one that has fewer features. anything less and id rather just have a smartphone.
it just struck me....but wouldnt this be the kind of thing people could do, but call their group "anonymous" while they protested it...? /not yet awake
what the holy fuck kind of lousy idea is that for a holiday?
if it set safari as a default maybe itd be better than everyone using IE (which is why everyone develops for it, which generate numerous complaints)

I want an argument...
OH, oh I'm sorry, but this is abuse.

couple this with the tech that can send directional sound and you could have some fun freaking people out :)
Keep looking, I'm still here, after all.

Sometimes I hate America.

Next they're going to bump it up to 11, for when you need just a little more oomph to get your work done.

If you don't want to say "hell" you can substitute "Detroit"
