im familiar with a few people who can just lay down and sleep on demand. my brother can be in a car, windows open, people talking, music up...and just pass out
im looking at this picture and thinking "wow, we flew a probe out in space, successfully caught up with this thing and took its picture"
then i look at the picture and think "well...its a rock, and its not even cool enough of a rock to use as a background" so im not sure how excited i am about all this
yeah, and for heroine addicts....just stop doing drugs.
how does this get insightful? if he doesnt have the caffeine, he gets a headache. just stopping may work for some things, and some people, but if it was simple as that for him, dont you think he would have already?
this, actually, is my plan. Im using a GF3 right now, though its showing its age and UT2k3 is only playable at 800x600 with low-medium details, i cant bare it for now.
But im a hardcore gamer, with a birthday in April. Im hoping by then a doom3 or half life 2 release date will be announced for around that time. Even if one isnt, i'll be getting a card. Whatever last gen card 150 or 200 bucks can buy. Im hoping for a 9700 pro or something.
Oh, im also hoping ATI and Nvidia can come up with better, more meaningful naming schemes (ati in particular, where the 9500 pro was better than the 9600 pro, meh)
i dont watch the news, i d'nt trust it or believe it. i honestly dont know whats happening in most places in the world today, because im rather confident that any news outlet i have access to here in america is half-honest at best.
enlighten us, where can i get honest news? i certainly dont know
i loved tie fighter so much i played it 2-4 hours a day at least
i rebought it with xwing and something else a couple years ago, tie fighter rules...i wish theyd remake it,with multiplayer; it could really kick some ass
i havent really enjoyed a rts in a couple of years because its all...the same. Homeworld was good, it was fun to control the space fleets, but the strategy element wasnt so strong, and due to lack of broadband 5 years ago i never got to play multiplayer any. I dont like H2 enough to buy it.
The last game i liked was Warrior Kings, buggy, but it allowed for more strategic elements, and the new version recently released had a battle-only mode. You decide on the composition of your army, choose a map, and have at it against a human or computer AI without the bother of resource management. But...it was still buggy, and not worth paying for. Bleh to it.
Besides, i cant find a RTS where i can control enough groups (i love HUGE battles). 10 groups isnt enough to keep track of a 1000 man army (as in warrior kings) plus the 200 peasants, plus additional units that help keep my city and army going.
first is my type of game. i prefer shooters and RTS games, both of which lend themselves better to play on a pc than a console. max payne is a great game...but i hated to play it on my friends x-box. nothing like a keyboard and a moue for first person shooting.
second, the internet: i love multiplayer games, not exclusively, but quite a bit. there has for the last few years, and even currently, been more online games for pc than for a console, understandably so.
i pay more for my computer (around $800 when i put it together a year ago) than for any console i would have bought ($200 easy) and get that much more use of it.
not only do i game (excessively), but i keep up with the news, frequent tech and game forums, can do my banking, shopping, email, learn about things far easier than i could otherwise by visiting a library, enjoy multimedia (watch movies, listen to music, keep up with my digital pictures, play with digital imaging software) have access to other content i cant get via a console and i get to tweak whats in my pc; which is a hobby of mine.
if youre just into game, and only games, like most people who want to play a game, then a console is, and always will be the perfect choice. for those who want to do a multitude of things in addition to gaming and can have only one or the other (or just prefer pc games) then a pc is for you.
i flamed a "thug" early on with a flamethrower for a bout 15 seconds before she died
to get said flamethrower, i stun prodded a guard for about 15 seconds (while he continually flamed me) and then finished him off with a knife because after stunning him for so long, i was convinced it had no effect and i would have to shed blood to make his life end.
i mostly play Enemy Territory and Red Orchestra...and some SoF2; people die in these games and it doesnt take a boring long amount of time for it to happen.
That, and i think the interface is about as annoying as it can get. The HUD is around the middle of the screen, obscuring everything thats not off to the side or immediately in front of me. I found it terribly bothersome after about 20 seconds and while i _may_ try the demo some more, i won't buy the game: if its even half as aggravating as the demo its too aggravating.
not to flame it, but im not a reviewer so it may come off as a flame. annoying interface, annoying inventory management, annoying time-lapses to kill someone, and annoying that i wasted bandwidth on this. If i had a 56k modem, id be pissed right now.
couldnt be for the effects of DX9 and the fact that they dont _need_ to care about porting because Windows has 95% of the dektop market and theres almost never enough demand for a game on anotherplatform (Mac or Linux etc) that its worth their time and money (and later, support) to port a game that will sell fewer copies worldwide than they sell in the first few days?
no, i don't wonder. i wish that dx wasnt the necessity it is...but thats only because i dislike Microsoft (as is standard here) and would prefer linux as my desktop choice.
Thing is, im a gamer. A PC gamer. Im not into consoles at all, and if im going to be much of a pc gamer, i have to use windows.
XP isnt as bad as 98 was (in fact i rarely have crashes of any sort and between a firewall/antivirus and keeping the patches on I havent gotten a virus yet. The product isnt really a bad one, but I dont like the company and the way it does business + licensing terms and othe restrictions that get worse and worse by the year.
buyt KOTOR, then get the super extended edition trilogy collectors set of the Lord of the Rings whenver they release it in a year or whatever.
of course, i have netflix, and got TTT when it came out and havent sent it back for watching it every couple of weeks for the hell of it...nows a reason to return it eh?:)
btw: the Ai in the farcry demo is pretty good, not great, but interesting.
show off

2 funnies in one post, hurrah for you! :P

im going to keep avoiding, especially after hearing mention of detail enough for a colonoscopy...*shudder*

my brother, thought the first was good, loved TTT (child...it was all war, which he liked) and is looking forward to the last
so i tell him to read the books "i dont want to read" he says...but hes probably the only one like that
because forcing people to use an OS theyve never seen, nor barely hear of, is the right way to go about it.
if i did that at an office, id be the office asshole and nobody would ever have an interest in linux after that.

Quagmire: Hey Lois, excuse me for pointing!
