honestly though, even with standby my thinkpad t60 could last 2 days+ on the battery. Ive never missed hibernate on the thing. If im going somewhere I cant charge for over 2 days, im screwed anyway.
indeed. i went from a thinkpad to a netbook for the sake of portability, the thinkpad was just a bit more than i needed on the go.
i considered an 810, and thats what came to mind when i saw the front page post, but i need a new phone and expect to get a blackberry or something with internet access, and didnt want to basically end up carrying 2 devices like that on me, so i got the netbook which will let me be a little productive.
I bought a Sansa Fuze recently, because it fit all the criteria I had for a new mp3 player:
cheapish (4gb for $70) Small/thin Video playback Expandable storage (via SDHC) good codec support (ogg, flac, mp3, etc) long battery life (~24 hours on a charge, for audio)
the *only* think i dont like? proprietary usb cable. what an annoying thing to do on a nifty little device.
I tried 4.1 around new years for a week. Almost....almost there. Dolphin choked regularly and I didnt like some other minor things about it (Dolphin) and KDE 4.1 had a few quirks (nothing bad, nothing more than gnome has)
I may try when 4.2 comes out, depending on what others say first. Im not in a hurry to switch DEs.
i heard roman sentries did but jesus probably fragged them....remember, older games let you be invincible for a few seconds after spawning to avoid spawn-camping.
I have a laptop and am a full-time student. I was carrying my laptop to class regularly for a while and then it hit me: duh, flash drive.I dont need to take my computer, if I know Im going somewhere with a computer, I jus tneed my flash drive with portable apps on it and Im good to go.
I understand with some apps you cant possibly do this, but its nice that *I* can. I have a T60 that isnt bad to carry, but a flash drive is easier.
actually now that you mention it, youre right. i once bought postal insurance and they refused to pay, because i couldnt produce receipts for the items, and the one i *did* produce a reciept for they bitched about.
but still, i had delivery confirmation and the *box* got to me, at least, so there!
meh, i would have had the laptop shipped to a relative and asked *them* to ship it in a plain box (not one marked DELL DELL DELL) with insurance, delivery confirmation or whatever option they could get from USPS or whoever.
as others mentioned, do a chargeback. then buy a thinkpad:)
While I find people across age groups that are lazy, I'm finding it far more likely with younger people these days being the worst in that they want things handed to them and want to minimize what they actually put into the job.
I have to agree with this. I'm only 25, and, long story short, am currently going to a community college for my associates in Network Technology. In a cisco class of almost 20, maybe 3 people besides myself regularly do and understand work on their own time.
They have no real idea what they might be getting into, they just half-ass everything and beg for a test review each week so they can pass without really learning.
Its almost frightening how lazy some people are about their education and their future.
i have to agree here. i first used ubuntu when it was version 7.04 on a celeron 2ghz with 384mb ram and it ran...well about as good as youd expect anything to run on that, and not badly. it certainly ran better than ubuntu proper did.
however, after the 7.10 release, it was obvious that many more background services were added to bring it up to par with ubuntu, and it definitely slowed the system down a bit.
that being said, i installed 8.04 xubuntu on a p3-733 with under 512 ram a few weeks ago, and it runs well enough. light browsing and such was fine on it.
i worked with a wISP for a while. 700mhz and 900mhz equipment can handle a surprising amount of foliage and still provide a decent connection.
however, they wont shoot straight through trees, but if foliage is in some of the lower part of the trannsmission field (called a fresnel zone) then the signal is passable.
as you get to higher frequencies, objects are more of a problem (at least as far as the canopy stuff goes). hills....well hills you cant do dick about. theyre very thick and dense, unlike scattered foliage, so they completely block the signal. anything sufficiently dense will do this.
It always amazes me how people don't read what they're referring to... Heh.
Besides, in the new testament you won't even find this type of things. So unless you're criticizing the Jews, might I remind you that (at least in catholicism and protestantism) the old testament is a historical tale, describing God's interactions with the Jews.
i was always told by my christian parents that god is never-changing. which is it? was he an old prick who had lots of people killed then changed? or was he an old prick who had lots of people killed but hasnt changed and nobody bothered to put any of it in the new testament?
or should: my brother avoids products with chocolate, caffeine, and pork because he has kidney stones and these cause them to be worse and more frequent.
my dad gets all sorts of shitty right-wine political emails and takes every one as fact without checking the first thing. i just ignore him now when he brings up anything negative from an email, and i dont bother arguing against any of his conservative ideas because his reasoning has gone out the window entirely.
Plus the word would start getting out how much easier it is to install and live with than Windows.
I got accepted as part of the work-study program at a community college i go to and am assistant to one of the network admins. He picked me because on my app I stated that I have some experience with linux and networking in a work environment.
So when I got there on day one...he asked me to teach him how to use it.
We installed Xubuntu, i briefed him on how driver setup and software installation was structured and implemented, as well as the fact that most updates wont require a reboot, and he replied "i wish microsoft did this....my job would be so much easier"
we havent had time to do much else (we installed on wednesday) but he liked what he saw, and what i explained to him.
might just be his ISP throttling him if he streams a lot or is a heavy user or if theyre generally craptastic.

Ive noticed the same thing as well. However, Im still more interested in Soccer, specifically the English Premier League.

new windshields? *confused*
I once knew a lady who worked for Sun when she lived in Colorado, and wanted to move to Kansas to be near her family.
They said....cool, and even paid for her wISP connection for her, and bought her a computer for working on.
I think she said she traveled to the office once a quarter or something.

...because our high school students were being required to clean up plague rats 3 hours a week to graduate? ;)

no no no, you're not doing it right, youve got to haggle!

i tried typing my random 63 character password for my wpa-aes network into a ninteno wii with the wiimote...
that mother fucker doesnt have internet connectivity. after *twice* getting the key in perfectly, i dont even care anymore what the problem is.
seriously.

you think bowling is expensive, you should see what i spend for heroin!
it seems that mozilla took their sweet time to make the request.
case or not, why didnt they care until now? ubuntu is hardly a new distro anymore, and mozilla corp isnt exactly new to this...so what gives?
