I think it's normal for any industry to have assholes and have even been on the receiving end of sexism for being male. Two thirds of my coworkers are female, one is my direct supervisor, but I work in a different industry. My point is that I don't believe it's misogyny keeping women out of this field, they're not all so delicate that they can't stand up to the aforementioned assholes, maybe they'd just rather do something else.
It seems to be human nature that each time we are outraged by something, the impact each time it happens slowly diminishes until we accept it as part of life.
That seems to be true. At first I was outraged that I wouldn't be playing any Ubisoft games anymore but now I'm actually okay with it!
Indeed, I was going to get this on Steam, but that's just completely unacceptable. No sale.
You complain about Ubisoft but would happily accept pretty much the same restrictions from Valve. That's supposed to be irony, right?
I'd say it's a legitimate decision. The defining difference between Ubisoft's DRM and Valve's is that Steam doesn't screw up your single player game if your connection drops out. For many people, Steam makes a pretty good case.
You do realize you're being trolled, right? And for what it's worth, it's some of the best trolling I've ever seen. It's tangentially on-topic but beyond rational discussion, the ratio of people amused by it to people pissed off by seems to be pretty even and he's not taking the easy way out by linking goatse or pasting some kind of racial slur. You should be happy to be trolled by someone who puts so much effort into it. If you're not, at least the rest of us are amused by your walking right into it.
But in terms of fundamental solving power, they are both the same.
I want to see a human brain that can solve millions of mathematical problems within a few seconds. It really just depends on how advanced our technology is. I'm willing to bet that, eventually, computers will be able to solve problems that would normally take a very long time in very little time.
I once heard a joke that the only reason computers can do more work than humans is that they don't have to stop to answer the phone, but I think there is a grain of truth to that. Maybe the human brain could do all that math if it didn't have to run so many processes in the background, like breathing for example.
A monthly fee to have access to their entire game library across multiple platforms and you're acting like they're trying to screw you over?
I assume that you're against Netflix, public libraries and all you can eat buffets as well?
You're comparing two different scenarios. In the first, you're talking about paying a monthly fee to access your entire game library across multiple platforms, plus the cost of buying the games in the first place, but the second is about accessing someone else's library for a monthly fee. A monthly fee to Netflix gets me access to their collection and I don't have to pay extra when they add new movies, I don't have to pay a red cent to my local library when they get a new book, and don't have to pay extra when the buffet puts out a new tray. They all make enough money off me without double-dipping.
In a perfect world, I'd like to see this service offered free of charge but I would settle for a one-off fee of about $5, separate from the cost of the game because not everyone would use this service.
It is, when someone digs up some pretty specific links within 12 mins of a story being posted. Perhaps you're a much faster and efficient being than most of us.
Good for you.
Three links in 12 minutes? That's not exactly setting a world record....
For all you know this might be a topic of interest so he didn't have to look hard to find them.
Found it his computer probably got infected because he kept going back to a site his scanner warned him was infected, and he'd ignored the warning. *headdesk*
Hey, if it wasn't for people like that half of us wouldn't have jobs!;)
(I'm a strong advocate for user education and attempt to do so every time I fix someone's system but I also have no qualms about taking their money when they ignore my advice time and time again)
Nah, if you win you just get a finger.
For what it's worth, I genuinely hope your story is the exception.
I'd be more inclined to call the familial unit a packet. ;)

You dont usually do girls?
I usually do women. At my age, girls are illegal!
... given that it's these kind of attitudes that keep women away.
If that were true, wouldn't women keep out of pretty much every industry?
How would a manufacturer force people to upgrade the unlock mechanism in the cars?
"If you don't upgrade your car will be a lot easier to steal."?

Would you prefer they dumped the ISS on land...? I assume they'll make efforts to collect it when it comes down.
"Fail" isn't a noun. Leave the mangling of communication to the children who think defacing sites is some sort of activism.
Google wasn't a verb. Look how well that turned out.
That's why he used OR instead of XOR. ;)
I'm still not sure how much I'd enjoy 90 minutes of "Increase speed, drop down and reverse direction!".
But besides all that, what have the Romans ever done for us?
According to your list, they sure as hell haven't given us something that plays AAC!
Is zero even or odd?
Yes, probably.

True, digging down certainly is a lot easier than digging up.
I thought I knew sarcasm, I really did, but wow... do you give classes?

For some reason I heard that in Patrick Stewart's voice. "There were FOUR options!"
Even better is that half the replies still tell the person to use floppy disks.
Multiplayer gaming is still the best bang for your buck entertainment wise, I believe.
I don't know, I can usually find someone to call me a cocksucker for free.

Yeah, I want a copy too.
