  1. Re:Short lifespan on Too Much Multiplayer In Today's Games? · · Score: 1

This is not true when you consider PC games with dedicated servers run by the public.
Team Fortress Classic (2001), Natural Selection(2002), hell, even the original Quake can still be played multiplayer.
Just make sure the games you buy are available with dedicated servers that can be run by the public, and you will never have this problem.

Free up what used to be the UHF TV spectrum for peer to peer use, and we can do a lot to fix the last mile problem.

I though the UHF frequencies are now being used by ATSC "over the air HDTV."

Game modding has been around forever. The very earliest I can think of is changing the rules to board games. Monopoly, for example. Who doesn't play with "house rules" like:
    • Tax money goes to the Free Parking jackpot.
    • Double money if you land exactly on GO.
    • Build with as many houses as you want.
    • Build two hotels on one property.
    • etc.

It makes the game more fun and exciting. But makes it take longer too.

Jury duty is an interesting process. But it is a long process. If you are picked for jury duty, you could spend hours or even days in court. Think about it, the same people talking about the same crime over and over again. Plus, you don't get paid very much. So, for most people, you'd lose money by serving.

Just when you thought technology could work for everyone, The Man comes in with a big lawsuit and stops it in its tracks. This is the RIAA. This is big Petroleum. This is pissing me off.
