Didn't Ansel Adams lug around an 8x10 glass plate
camera in Yosemite? His zone system required a
lot of thought and effort on each photo (you almost
have to develope the negatives one at a time).
Not sure the convenence/speed of use factor would
have been that important to him.
I never meet the man, or anyone who did, so it is
really hard to say if he would have gone digital.
Oracle may have a nice product but the company is every bit as bad as Microsoft (this is MHO based on dealings with them). The only reason they are not considered the anti-christ is because they don't have the same size/power as MS.

You could print a picture of a persons eye on
a contact lens like film. Pop it in your eye and
presto, instance bio-metric. All you would need
is a good shot of their eye.
Sorry, but I know nothing of this stuff. Is it
possible to make a copy of a commercial movie DVD
with one of these recorders? Can you then play
the copy in a set top DVD player or only in your
computer?
Sounds like crap to me. If it can be shown that
MS encouraged the use of FAT without demanding
payment for years, then I think a good case can
be made that FAT is now in the public domain.
I have never used a Segway, but it seems that
they are just fun to use. They maybe some real use
to people who can't walk but can stand
for hours with no problem, but I bet its just the fun
factor.
Hummm... maybe WTF is SCO wants to get a list of who is using Linux. Offer an insentive and have everyone sign up, then go after them. Yet, that must be it.
Makes more sense then anything else I can think of.
I have told AT&T 3 times to put me on their do
not call list AFTER the do not call registry
went into effect. They are not paying attention
to anything. If english were the primary language
of the smucks calling I would yell at them
Me: gall darn it, stop calling
AT&T: Veddy goud sir, right away sir
This compairs MS to J2EE. Not that there is anything wrong with J2EE, but there is a lot more to open source then J2EE and some is a lot cheaper to develope and maintain (Zope, PHP, etc).

No, just that the strongest out reproduce the weakest. Its a numbers and long time scale issue. And remember that strongest can be defined by number of offspring (show of hands for slashdotters with more then one child?).
There will always be social hierarchy as long as there is complex life. We are forming a tech socity and there will be a hierarchy in it. The nature of our communications and sharing of resources may produce something new, as far as governance goes. I hope to live long enough to see what comes of all this.
You could use an old pre-digital sterioscopic
viewer to view the prints of you pictures.
Very Victorian.
Didn't there used to be a desposable camera that
would give you 3D prints with some sort of
refractive plastic on top?
Humm... I like this conspiracy angle much better. Valve knows they can not meet their December dead line. 'Yikes', they says, 'if we slip again our stock will really take a hit'. So they fake a break in, claim some code and art was stolen and that now they have to slip four months. Trouble is the stock takes a hit anyway.
This theory has merit because:
1) Why slip the release? Makes no sense, just ship it anyway.
2) I am up to post 50 or 60 in this/. article and there has not been a link to the code/game yet.

Here is a non-informed question: could I get a
RFID scanner and find the tags in the stuff I buy
and then remove them?
They may be usefull in some way if I could attach
them and scan them myself.

Seems to me techies read/. and the 3 piece suits
(3PS) read something else (DJIA?).
Maybe IBM should pay to run a poll of the 3PS to
see why they don't like Linux.
I think the Canadians have always pulled their

Beside, I don't want to piss them off as I hope
to start downloading stuff from their servers.
