How about this one then: I use online banking to pay most of my bills. My bank sends me reminders by email when I have a new bill. Those emails include a link to a logon page. Since these are "expected" emails it would be very easy to use in a phishing scheme. Of course, they are targeted to one particular bank and they also include the name of the Payee so that does make it a bit harder to fake, but I'm sure a Phisher could get a lot of hits by using "Bank of America" or "Wachovia" and common payee names like "Bellsouth", "Sprint" etc.
Since I'm a bit paranoid I never follow the links from those emails, but just open a browser and manually navigate to the login page. But I would imagine that most people using this service don't do this.
I wonder when we'll start seing this kind of more targeted phishing scam.
Trolling? No, the spelling and grammar is too good and it has 4 sentences.
Joking? No, because there are no funny puns
Being serious? Couldn't be. "Big semiconductor companies catching up to this"??? Like someone building a soap box car for their kid and now the big car companies have to catch up? This seems to be great, fun hobby-project but let's not blow it out of proportion.
I can understand thieves and murderers doing prsion time, but some dude uploading a movie on the internet?
What is the difference between a thief and a person uploading a copyrighted movie to the internet? That's right there is none!
There's so much RIAA/MPAA bashing on/. about them not distinguishing between legal uses of P2P and illegal uses, but when I read stupid comments like this one I can't say I blame them. Pirating is stealing. Downloading pirated material is "small fish" stealing (and if you actually use it for evaluation and buy the CD/DVD/Program afterwards it's not stealing at all in my book, but I bet most people who use the "evaluation" argument never buys it anyway - why, spend money on something you already have). Uploading pirated material is "big fish" stealing, because you actually not only steal your own single copy but facilitate others in doing the same. The fact that the technology (in the case of bittorrent) is such that both upload and download is potentially part of any "transaction" doesn't change this fact.
How dare you post such offensive material in public view. "Overlords" is clearly a sexually discriminative term as "lord" means "a man of rank or high position, or a a nobleman". I strongly suggest you change that to the more appropriate "I, for one, welcome our non-offensive over-highly-ranking-person".
But I'm liking the 11% discount on Adobe shares and actually bought shares. A company who has just announced better than expected results, have announced a major stock repurchase and is gaining marketshare previously held by Quark and all at an 11% discount. I'm in! At the very least they should quickly return to their pre-merger-announcement level but I see alot of potential here.
I just hope I'm right or my kids won't go to college as I made the buy on their college savings accounts:-)
Did you read the suggested law? Nobody's banning anything. They will prohibit selling games marked as Mature to people under 18. What's your problem here?
The thing is... they act like forks are bad things. Yes, projects can die from fork-deaths; on the other hand, forks can breathe new life into projects.
For a large enterprise a fork IS a bad thing. So is a new version, a patch, an update, any change. If you have thousands of computers any change costs time and money. While upgrading and patching incurs the cost it is a "necessary evil", being on a flavor that die off and is being replaced (even if by something better) is very bad. It's a real risk and management in those kinds of organizations are (and should be) very risk-averse. This is definitely an area where MS has the upper hand and will have until there are heavyweight supported distros. That day is arriving, but until then, don't ignore the fact that this is a very real problem.
First: Do you really need the "Premier" version? Unless you have unusual circumstances or your own company you can probably get by with the "Deluxe" version which is $34.99 at Costco. Costco gives you a $10 instant rebate so it's $24.99. You also get the State Tax free after mail-in rebate and free e-filing after mail-in rebate. So for Federal, State and e-filing I paid a total of $24.99. And I had my refunds about 1 wk after filing. Pretty painless and cheap.
Can't they just integrate with the "Sims Online" (http://thesims.ea.com/). Then the GTA players can kill and mame the poor Sims players who just try and go about their daily life 8-)
Hmm - security by declaration, now there's an idea... so much better than security by obscurity I think and we all know that that is pretty darn secure to begin with.:)
Even if global warming were true for example (which it's not)
Man - and all those scientists that have studied this for so long and all the resources they've spend on this - they could just have asked you. Dang - what a waste.
To eliminate even more wasteful spending can you let the rest of the world know the answers to
Is human controlled fusion ever going to be a valid energy source?
Is the current model for dark matter true or not?
How can we solve the Middle East Crisis? I'm hoping here that your superior knowledge covers social issues as well as physical science
If we've got that scale of infrastructure on the planet, completing a conclusive search for life across the planet could seemingly be completed in decades using a far smaller amount of resources.
If we got that scale of infrastructure on the planet [for terraforming reasons] finding life wouldn't change anything anyway.
It would restrict games that show graphic pain or suffering, show violence that would be a crime in real life, have characters that commit violence without remorse and have sound or other effects meant to enhance the violence.
That would apply to most RTS games as well. I'm currently playing Kohan II and so is my 11 year old son (who's beating me most of the time). It's a great strategical game (think Warcraft without the micro-managing click-fest aspect) and I bet no-one would consider it violent. Yet, you are fighting with armies and units get killed so doesn't that make "show graphic pain or suffering" apply to it?
This could be good or bad depending on how well they can define the rules.
While I mostly agree with the point you're trying to make you did selectively post just some of the statements. You "forgot" this one:
It is a felony for a person to intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly sell or provide a handgun to any person less than 18 years of age. Parents and legal guardians may, however, allow possession of a handgun by a minor for such purposes as detailed above. In addition, under federal law, federally licensed firearms dealers may not sell a handgun to anyone under 21 years of age.
I think you're forgetting one tiny little thing: Resale value.
The demand for pre-1980 houses or custom built houses is much smaller than for new run-of-the-mill houses, so you may end up with a house you can't sell when you need to.
Once you get it into inital orbit payload weight would not be a problem
2 words - Mass and Momentum. Sure the payload matters. Size wouldn't matter as the payload carrying part would be facing away from earth and would need to be protected from 6MW of microwawes anyway.

So what was the intent anyway?
Ha ha - phew that was a good one ...
Next thing you'll be trying to tell us that the US is a real democracy..

Good thing we still have The King among us...
The joke is dead. Let it go.
God's dead too ...

Does that mean we will also see massively parallel lawsuits (I guess that will make them class action lawsuits).
Huh - you're bitter about the Sega Dreamcast and refuse to buy and Sony gaming product. I'm not following your logic here...
Hmm - security by declaration, now there's an idea... so much better than security by obscurity I think and we all know that that is pretty darn secure to begin with. :)
2. Distribute 12 patches over a year
3. Claim superiority by only having 12 patches in a year
4. Profit
Cool, for once, didn't even need a ??? for item 3 - that's why MS is doing so well :-)

>You cannot forsee all abnormal conditions
I think that's why he said all forseeable (sic) abnormal conditions. That subset must by definition be foreseeable :-)
