"Unfortunately, the model breaks down as soon as the core group involved in a project or distribution decides to corrupt the source, because they simply won't make the corrupted version public."
They would have to release it public. Releasing a program source under the GPL, then not releasing the next version under the same cannot be done AFAIK.
Deriving (ie Version 2) would automagically fall under the GPL and would have to be released.
This isn't journalism. It's ignorance and/or stupidity.
But then wouldn't it lay blame directly on those "clueless parents" instead of on the "Video Game Industry" when their child does something moronic, like shoot at passing cars?

"Ok, that stops a couple of security holes, at least somewhat, but it means Java, Flash, QuickTime, etc. are no longer available."
Where is the downside? Other than the fact that lots of web designers will have to actually learn something then just punch out another garbage Flash page.

Yet, Opera works absolutely fine on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 490XCDT.

Mozilla is fat and slow. Even it's "small" counterparts suffer from it's sluggishness.
Thank you, come again.

I think it should be available in Canada, at least.
Dear Microsoft,
Canada is not the United States of America.
Thank You.
"IPv6 would remove the practice of ISPs selling
IP address at a premium. For that alone its worth it. Would make for more grassroots servers."
Or they could just keep selling IPs at premium and make even MORE money.
You have to think like a corporation, not like a hopeful user.
Someone is playing follow the leader?
"Presumably their EULA allows them to do this sort of stuff."
Isn't it Federal law?
How can a contract go against federal law?
Maybe the US is more screwed that previously thought.
"The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act makes this clearly illegal; if this were a 17-year-old instead of AOL, the FBI would be investigating."
Citizen's Arrest?
"Also, in most cases you just activate over the internet which just takes mere seconds so I don't really see where the big problem is."
Connecting to the internet without updates?
You are either very brave, or very stupid.
CC = Canadian Club?

"You do that, and you're reducing many recording artists to a sort of farmer: a subsidized industry member."
Avril Lavigne is farming her way to the top, is she?
Is that what they mean by "Milking the Cow"?

Wait... that's not a downside, either.
I thought they moved the SUNShine Girl to the second last page now.
Seems it's only the UK Sun that still has a "Page 3".
I have an old Trackman Marble and two Cordless Optical Marbles.
Best "mouse" I've ever owned. Who needs mousepads?!
The RIAA sues people?
Never!
No
Unless those working on a "fix" are not in the "Good" Ol' US of A.
What keeps Canadians (ha!) from invading the United States and taking what they want? Fear of US retribution.
Not quite. We just don't want your shitty country.
We don't fear you, we laugh at you. We laugh at your ignorance and arrogance.
At least it wasn't "MSBlast", huh?
HAR HAR HAR!
That sounds just about right.
He just forgot to mention EVERYTHING going so slow that it makes eating hot flowing lava enjoyable.
Yet the "Featured Site" using the MSN.CA search directed me right to Linux.com

425,000 - 850,000 crackers is a little more realistic than 8,500,000 crackers, I say.
