  1. Re:I recall an old text MUD doing something simila on Drug Addiction Integrated Into Achaea MUD · · Score: 1

The AD&D world you're looking for is Dark Sun. I played that MUD for a little while; unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it (besides an odd schedule, I apparently can't actually roleplay with that interface).

Drunk code has been standard on Diku-based MUDs for ages now, especially the garbled text.

Computer, sometimes Console for games like Final Fantasy or Terranigma. The idea was to differentiate it from tabletop roleplaying games, though since those were first, they're not called TRPGs.

No! Feather lowers your encumbrance (makes your pack lighter) -- use Slowfall instead. Cast when you're near the ground, allowing enough time to finish casting before you hit...

It's not all that impossible. One arrow takes the first guard, but the rest get suspicious. Then it's about three more arrows per guard since they're looking. If you're out of the way (preferably vertically) enough, they won't be able to get you. In Thief 2, I evaded a bunch of guards by climbing up a rope and just hanging there right above their heads. They never looked up.

Actually, EA stomped on Peroxide's "Ultima 1: A Legend is Reborn" 3D remake. At that point (early 2003) it was just about the only 3D remake with a demo out. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but nobody could really do anything.

Epic, New World Computing, SirTECH, Origin Systems, Westwood

The first two are still in business, thanks to Unreal and Might & Magic respectively. I think SirTECH (makers of Wizardry) went out just recently, while Origin and Westwood have been absorbed by Electronic Arts.

Are you talking about the PlayStation version or PC? I've heard that the PS port had some control problems, but I got it for the computer instead... and I didn't find much of anything to complain about.

Though, yes... single-player only, so you're going to have to take turns if you want to play it with someone.

I beat Mortal Kombat 2 that way. I never found out how to use SubZero's ice blast, just punched and kicked my way through it.

Admittedly, it was pretty easy, but the quicksaves took all the challenge out of it.

  12. Re:Is this a SECOND live movie? on Evangelion Live Action Movie · · Score: 1

That one is a short series of live-action scenes with actors portraying the characters (with the exception of Shinji, who was present only in voice as an observer) that were intended to be included in End of Evangelion, but were scrapped and replaced with the collection of real-life shots. It's been awhile since I watched it, but I think it's in the middle of the movie, where Shinji is beginning to realize his control over the fate of the world after he's been taken into Lilith. Some clips from this were added to the beginning of EoE because they had nowhere else to put them.

You can find the script for that part of the movie at evaotaku.com.

  14. Re:So where are the raw materials? on Eldred v. Ashcroft Oral Arguments · · Score: 1

This leads me to conclude that, one day, when we have reached that theoretical limit, all 'music' produced will be rap. A very frightening concept, indeed. Isn't that one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

I've found three that might fit...

"And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword."

"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind."

But I think the most fitting one is this:
"And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

You know it has to refer to the power of sound waves; by the time people run out of melodies, they'll just make it louder to compensate, until the mountains actually do fall.

Does this mean that rap is the vector of God's wrath?
