The larger the corporation the less results actually matter. What REALLY matters at review time is what people, especially managers other than your own, think you've done. It doesn't matter if you've written 100,000 lines of bug free code if you've been quietly flying under the radar and getting your job done you will be rated lower than the person who speaks up at every meeting, sends emails to everyone in sight but really produces very little. Microsoft is especially bad for this, as you can tell by their products. What counts is how well you market yourself to the team and senior managers, not your results.

Pure opinion and far from the opinion of most people. XP, while not perfect by a long shot, is still the best OS MS has managed to come up with.
The only reason Win 7 will eventually have a majority share is because Microsoft will stop selling and supporting XP and will only sell Win7. Through simple hardware attrition Win7 will become the most used platform.

They did that in the last election putting Kerry up against Bush. Bush was a lot easier to beat in 2004 than McCain is in 2008. What is revolutionary about a tiny 8.5 HP motor getting extremely high mileage? If I changed the gearing on an old riding lawn mower so it could go 55 mph it would probably get hundreds of MPG too.
And what "statistics" are those? Every area with strict gun control has far more violent crime, including firearm crime, than cities/states that don't have strict gun control. HCI isn't a good source for firearm information.
Fencing won't keep wolves out if they want to get in. Ranchers would have to build at least 6' tall fences that were either sunk several feet under ground, or have fencing on the ground several feet out from the fence to keep them from digging in. That would cost an astronomical amount and would hugely increase the price of everything eaten or made from livestock.
Also a lot of livestock is raised on BLM (open range) land that the ranchers don't have the right or authority to fence in.
you have to have a very serious conversation with yourself about whether you are okay with staying up until 5:00AM to finish a problem set for a course you're not very interested in becoming a very common occurrence.
Do you think it will be any different once you have a job? Every task or project you get assigned once you're out of school isn't going to be something you're thrilled with. You will have problems you're not interested in that you have to solve by a given deadline. Welcome to the real world.
Where you get a degree, or if you even have a degree, doesn't make a lot of difference in getting a job outside of Goggle (where you need a PHD). Job experience and team fit - you will need some social skills, not just technical, are as important to landing a new job.
