    Apple had better take extraordinary effort to make their new browser IE compatible. Like it or not most people use IE and most web sites are optimized for it. While many web developers will be willing to test their pages on IE/Mozilla/Opera how many are going to be willing to get a Mac to test this new browser?

    Actually you did try to pass opinion as fact, you never stated it was your opinion. You said:

    That is a statement of fact, not opinion.

    I wouldn't doubt that you're right and there are MS employees who post here, wether they're actually assigned to do so is questionable though.

    You're right, many firefighters or police officers wouldn't mind making that kind of money. The IT field is grossly overpaid compared to most other industries.

" And then the United Federation of Planets will form, money will be obsolte, everyone will have a job they love that makes them feel fulfilled and happy and the Enterprise will swing by to beam everyone up. We are modern and civilized? How much of the world still doesn't have electricity or basic health care or education? How many countries are ruled by dictators, monarchies or some other "enlightened" form of government? The humanity isn't modern or civilized even if some countries are.

    "Do you really want to explain to a jury of regular middle-class people that..." You wouldn't have to explain to a jury of middle class people who couldn't find a reason to get out of jury duty. A trial by jury isn't required, you can request to be tried by a judge who, you would hope, would be less swayed by emotion and follow the letter of the law. This is just a FYI and not intended as ANY kind of justification for ANY child pornographer (may they burn in hell).

    Good point, but it's also a hell of a lot easier and cheaper to visit other countries when you can hop a train or drive for 30 minutes to get there.

    In some states they're required by law to remove you if you ask to be removed. However that would only move you from their "send to" list and on to the "known good address" list that they would then sell to someone else for a higher price because someone verified the address for them.

    Not for me, although the Knoppix dist was very good. Out of 5 machines, 2 of them laptops, Knoppix failed to detect one NE2000 PCI network card. All in all not a bad detection rate at all, I did expect to see more problems with sound cards than network cards though.

Daily I see women change lanes without looking or signaling, putting on makup while driving etc etc. Women as just as dangerous on the road as men, just in different ways. I used to be a courier, drove 100,000 miles a year, the one accident I was in was caused by a woman rear ending me while I was stopped to make a left turn, at noon on a sunny day. She had no excuse other than that she wasn't paying attention.

    Montana is a huge state, especially compared to the tiny ones back east. The eastern 1/2 or more of Montana is very flat range type country. Even though it's 1/2 the state that much is still as big or bigerr than most eastern states.

    So when marketing (or whoever makes the decisions) determines that there should be an integrated spell-checker, someone will code it up because that's what they're paid to do. As opposed to the open-source problem of finding someone who wants to do it. Not really. Microsoft is so huge and has their fingers in so many pies that generally developers there work on the project they want to do, they aren't just randomly assigned to X task somewhere in the company when it needs to be done.

    Another way to look at it is the value you receive from the CD vs the DVD. You will likely listen to the CD many more times than you watch the DVD. How many times are you really going to watch the movie? Even over the course of a few years that number isn't likely to be more than 5 or 10 times. Now the CD you may well listen to several times in just a week if you have a long commute and/or listen to it at work.
