And SWF, which I'm waiting on anxiously. Current ability strips animation and sound, but when it doesn't... it's going to make the presentation part of OO.org quite desireable.
THAT's what I was looking for, methinks. I know they used one of those cages on an episode of Myth-Busters trying to block cell phone usage. I'm currently reading about Ultra Wide Band (UWB) radio data transmission technologies. I guess they provide for much faster data transmission rates, but only in close proximity.
A neat idea, but you'd need a faster, close proximity, wireless technology. You'd also need neato hardware-level security. Perhaps such a thing exists, but I don't know. I'd also probably build a mesh transmission barrier (there's a proper name for this?) into or around the case. At this point maybe it's just easier, cheaper, and more effective to use existing techniques. A good convo for a modding site though!
Actually, a nearly IDENTICAL plane like this was featured in a History channel speical... which makes this article kinda confusing. I wish I could remember which one, but IIRC they discussed the possibility of these being sold to rc hobbyists (sp?!).
Perhaps in some ways you're right. But on the other hand, do you think we could have been 'nice' enough to them to prevent an attack? I don't believe so. I assume that our government looks at the situation something like this: "We can try to be more like what people want us to be, and passively hope they don't get angry... or we can be what we want to be, act in our own interests, and try to take a less friendly but more active [read caustic or violent] role in trying to prevent their ability to react".
I imagine it's more likely that someone is either being paid to pursuade people to make their hotspots "AMD Hotspots", or gets referral credit of some sort. It's likely one of a loosely screened group of people looking to make a quick buck. I sincerely doubt it's actual AMD marketers. Of course, I could be wrong.
With the least perverse kind of overtones possible, I think it's safe to say quite a few slashdotters would be interested in seeing what the consequences of said programs would be when a truly vicious one achieves high saturation.
Anyone wanna see what the internet would be like with 1/3 it's normal traffic? I picture it like a sort of post-apocalyptic scene where the survivors rule.
Of course, this idea is only neat if I'm one of those 'survivors'.
Admittedly, I don't have much experience with purchasing linux products... but if I have to say activestate seems to have their ducks in a row. The product demo of theirs I did try both installed easily, and behaved as advertised. I would be confident purchasing a product from them. Oh, and for the record, I have no affiliation what-so-ever.
Ah yes... I fondly remember the "Tattler" and the frantic calls, "I was searching for cheaper notepads and ended up on a porn site! I swear to god I didn't mean to! Do I get reported to my boss for this?"
My usual response was, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it for you." Translation: "nobody looks at that thing unless they're looking for an excuse to fire you, and then you're screwed anyway."
If I implement a mod chip on an XBox, and an open source bios that (of course) is not based on reverse engineered MS code, could I sell one legally? Microsoft has been pushing me all over hell-and-creation without giving me a real answer to this.

"Choline is a naturally occurring nutrient found in egg yolks, milk, nuts, fish, liver and other meats as well as in human breast milk. It is the essential building block for a memory-forming brain chemical called acetylcholine, and it plays a vital role in the formation of cell membranes throughout the body."
I know they do little pr videos from the shuttle, but is the mascara really necessary? Shouldn't they use that space and weight for antibiotics or something?
Wouldn't it be better to use the rechargable batteries you can buy at BestBuy or Target instead of burning up those AAs and 9vs for 10 hrs of play time?
"Microsoft would rather squash or buy out competitors instead of compete on a level playing field."
Obviously nobody likes a company that "squashes" other companies, but buy outs involve at least two parties. I'm less inclined to be upset about those.

Then there's all the iPod cracking fun. "Let's see what that jogger has on his iPod..."
All you have to do is keep up.
Did anyone notice this thing is like $599? The Griffin one is $40.

Or you could just pay the duty on it? I doubt it's $900 on a $1000 laptop.

Are you including the price for the upgrade assurance that goes in the toilet?

...why the internet should be destroyed.
Creating GATTACA? :(
Great, just what I needed... better start hitting the books.

Its my understanding that gross negligence pierces the veil of liability... leaving the players personal assets vulnerable?
Well, any science that changes the outcome of our sports events....

If this had anything to do with this:
"June 10, 2003 - GeCAD Software announces a definite agreement with Microsoft in acquiring GeCAD's antivirus technology."
Listed here along with a number of their other aquisitions.
Oh, and it's important to note here that nothing from Microsoft is "free".
Yeah, I guess I can understand the thinking... just seems a little wishful at best. Not something that a silly embargo would prevent.
