I fully believe Sony knew what they were getting in to with this company. Sony also knew that if anything went wrong (like it did), they'd be able to easily sue this company which is a fraction of it's size.
Sony isn't earning any points back with me on this one..
Hate to reply to my own post, but take a joke! I was merely poking fun at how it seems every other day someone is guessing about the release date. I myself own a G5 and probably will one of many lining up outside our local Apple store on April 29th. I've been waiting a while for this, just like everyone else. Relax.
Good point.
Since you brought up raises...state employees of NC received their first raise (this excludes teachers, they've gotten more money in the last three years than anyone - not saying they don't necessarily deserve it) in 3 years last year. We got 2.5% or $1000, whichever was greater. Prior to that, we got -nothing-. No cost of living, nothing.
Maybe if they rewarded people better, productivity would increase. And I'm not talking about reward as in 'good job'. That helps, but you can't take that to the bank or pay your mortgage with it.

I'm at home, cooking dinner. But I do read/. at work, though I wouldn't say I slack off 50% of the time. Besides, is it wrong to slack off for four hours in a day if you produce more in the other four hours than people who 'worked' eight hours that day? Note that thats a drastic example, but it's not far from the truth sometimes. And I should know, I'm a state employee.
Jimmy
I work for the state of NC. There are those of us that work hard, and there are others that don't work so hard. Yes, I read/. at work, though I consider it somewhat informative (/.? informative? well, go ahead and mod this funny..) as it helps keep me up to speed on different issues and technologies. Now I don't read it all day, but I might take a break and browse it while something else is running in the background or on another machine. The point is, when I work, I bust my ass. There is nothing wrong with taking a break every once in a while, whether it's/. or solitaire..
Jimmy
I can safely say that I don't think this would fix anything. People are creative. If it's not solitaire, it -will- be something else.
I read one comment that said something along the lines of 'once you're in [state gov't], you actually have to TRY and get fired'. I believe that too. I know quite a few people that could be more way more productive than they currently are. But it's not just the games. It's the phone, or the email, or the internet, or the conversations in the hall. Passing this bill will only make people spend more time doing those other things.
Jimmy
Obviously this will simply be crippled WMA files, but then again, AAC files aren't exactly a standard.
I hate to say this, but the fight between iTMS and Microsoft on this may simply come down to who has the best selection and can offer the lowest price.
I think someone else predicted this service coming when a previous story broke about Microsoft music devices/software. It doesn't take a crystal ball to see that Microsoft is going to capitalize on whatever everyone -else- does well.
Just some early thoughts on the subject...

if Jack Thompson tried to prevent Manhunt 3 by downloading the AO game as much as possible. Then, he got busted for it!
will be downloadable, too..

Well, if it is a case of a broken record, are they going to sue themselves for using the backup copy they made? :)

Which grandparents normally have, so this works well!
Jimmy
my grandmother can't even double click...
Good for this lady..

I thought I read that Bush said the sentence was "just too harsh". If that was the case, couldn't he have reduced, but not eliminated the prison time?
I don't know if that is an option, but if it is, and he truly believed that the sentence was too harsh (hah!), he should have picked that option.
Jimmy
I'm not sure, but at least the judge isn't allowing the RIAA to weed through the defendants' computers.
:)
This seems like it could be a major crack in the RIAA's cases all over the country.
Maybe this will speed up the process of the end of these lawsuits.
(Okay, okay, I'm done..
Or is that something they have already forgotten, and want us to as well?
Oh, this isn't a poll, is it?
Crap.

Avadis "Avie" Tevanian possibly?
See: http://www.apple.com/pr/bios/tevanian.html
Note: I have no proof of this, just simply a guess.

..now we'll need to a new product to speculate about every other day!
Jimmy
Ah, so you did. I misread your comment. Doesn't matter anyhow, I think the joke flew over most people's....erm, heads ;)
Jimmy
The joke wasn't about height ;)

That girls who date Asian men will have a second use for their magnifying glass now! (sorry, couldn't resist :)
