is that the govvies are at least TRYING (however uselessly) to solve some of the spam problem. I would've given each spammer 40 lashes, but seeing as special interest groups (including spammers) dominate government nowadays, I'll take what I can get.
fah. FileDonkey happens to be a much larger and much faster form of p2p, and gets past any firewall specifically blocking kazaa and the like, as it uses many different servers. All hail El Mule!
5. Cover your tracks. Clear browser history. On Windows, clear the list of recently accessed documents. If you have root on a UNIX box, flush the logs.
Also, be SURE to clear temp internet files, cookies, and temp files. If your runnin any vids, clear out the history and cache of the player you are running (for realone player, go into the program files folder/history).
If they are so great at predicting future trends, why didn't they realize what the mainstream computer user wants?
They, IMHO, lost the Intel/AMD war because they tried to convince people that (truthfully or not) their processors, though with less MHz or GHz, were faster than Intel's. This may have been true but the average user just wants it to look good on paper. Likely the only reason they are turning a profit is because of the relative expensiveness of the new Intel processors compared to AMDs.
Will there be BULLET TIME(tm) in The Matrix Online?
Yes. BULLET TIME(tm), slow motion interactive gameplay, is an essential part of The Matrix Online experience.
Wonder how they are going to pull that off. Possibly making a "combat cloud" when you start a battle with a baddie?
Compatibility. Gamers (mainstream) don't use Linux because they don't want to figure out how to compile Wine.
Average users don't use linux because it is a very high wall to leap over, and they are comfortable with IE and Word, and are not the least bit concerned with security, unless they regularly make purchases online.
Businesses don't use Linux (in desktops) because the cost in time and money of training all the users to switch from dos-based to unix-based systems.
I agree that Linux is not ready for the desktop yet, because the hurdles are currently too high. I think by saying this the Red Hat CEO is implying that they are working on a way to make the transition much much easier.
Just remember he said Linux isn't ready for desktops yet
Wouldn't it be much easier to create a report function to alert google of a redirect or a site with malitious codes? Seems a bit simpler than ponying up the extra bandwidth to parse every page that comes up on a search (usually 20k+).
as much as many people want them to be. Why? No government.
The authorative figures in these games tend to be mindless drones of NPC's that MIGHT talk to you if you click on them, but will say the exact same thing to everyone else.
Many people will think that a society is based on trade or crafting, but really its a government that ties it all together. I really wish I could get the king of Midgard to gather all our forces and kick ass, but it isn't gonna happen, because people (well, sane people with jobs) dont have the time to get on a game every time the game "needs" them.
We feel that the Claria Corporation name will allow us to better communicate the expanding breadth of offerings that we provide to consumers and advertisers.
The reason for this change is simple: Gator is too well known as adware. Though claria reminds me of malaria or chlamydia, people will likely be less suspicious of it, as the name isn't said with a spit after it.
Also it is very hard to mod any console game. Why? You need either the source code, a thing that you will get from devs when you pry it from their cold, dead fingers, or a level editor, which most devs don't release. Also, to make a kick-ass mod like counterstrike, you need to use a code editor, and they are only on PCs. Why would anyone want to mod a console game? Its like wanting to run Linux on an X-box.

I bow to your superior /. User ID number
how many slashdotters were of that 125? More than 40% I'd bet.
"Didn't you read the article?"
Didn't you read the article?
The RIAA wants $3500 to settle, or face a prolonged court case.

seems like square is pandering to yaoi fans. yech.
and just use "sombrero"? Might go over really well with the latin customers.
RED FACTION!!!!
Not that any slashdotters could get laid in the first place :P

Does this have anything to do with the dilbert episode on last night?

I think its great that there's no replies to that

Lets just open the door for the sex on the holodeck people!
That creates just another loophole, in which once a site is in the database on google, they could very easily change the code to redirect.
George Carlin, the socrates of our time.

CO is trying to usurp the RIGHTS to the body of work, whereas music downloaders are merely copying it for themselves
For the mentally impaired, that's like saying to the RIAA that I made the music, not the artists.

It was probably an 11 year old that came up with the big bang theory in the first place!
Besides breaking fundamental laws of physics, the big bang can't be proven in a lab setting or any setting for that matter. Fah.
Its about time someone said it.
