You know, my standart miktex install size is over 300mb.... you can carry the book on one disc, but not the overly huge eps bitmaps (because getting jpegs or gifs to work is a pain in the ass) or anything to compile it into a usable format.
Noting against tex, i use it myself, but you cant call it very slim.
Speedups like a factor of 1000 can only come from high level optimisations (like replacing an O(n^2) with an O(n log n) algo).
Honestly: TO be able to get a 1000 times boost, your original code must have been beyond bullshit.
And of course using simd is better than not using it, but i would rather stay on a "let the compiler vectorize it" level. I mean, doing your inner loop in leet assambler only to NOT know after a long simulation if ther results are real or you just botched some line isnt worth it.
You underestimate the "idiotic-stupid-levelup-factor" of many of those mmporg.
Its nothing about finishing the game quicker, its about not having to spend 20$ per months for ages until after doutzends of wasted hours you charactar is finally strong enough to kill stuff other than rats or rabbits....

you, sir, won the price for the most stupid argument in this discussion...
(hint: the difference between f1 cars with engines and gearboxes build to run 1000km at most and standart street cars is almost as big as the one between cars and rockets. So f1 performance just says something about how much money these companies decided to pump into the f1 buisness - essentially marketing money, that is missing somewhere else, like in the real R&D.)
so true... I remember being stuck on the netscape v4.xxx base on some university computers for years... In the end, ie5 was a welcome salvation. Netscape was a slow hog, crashed like crazy and generally a pain in the ass. (how bad it was became apparent in how many years the mozilla team needed to make it usable... they created the whole kde less time)
Well, you know, thanks to episode 1 the force isnt anything mythical anymore, so there would be no problem with robots haveing biobots cultivating those mithoclorians (or what the name is...)
not true. i installed it being aware of the cydor possiblility. After installing, there were no registry entries by cydor, no cydor dlls present nor were any processes running. So it wasnt installed.
the dvd-consortium made the standarts, convinced the studios, established a market just waiting for hundreds of million players for those companies to produce and sell. A market that wouldnt have existed without the standart.
They were crappy. Some had springs at the dial that were so strong that if you didnt hold the phone with the other hand you would move it around while NOT turning the dial. Plus you started to hate people with numbers that had many 8 9 or 0 in it...
those prople dont have a carreer to lose, either. Because they already fucked up theirs, so such a little error wouldnt matter. I dont know, but here if you dont suck, you can get your doctor 8-9 years after STARTING to study without problems.
a)I bought a LCD a year ago, now a better one would be 30% cheaper. Thats a price drop.
b)It has, for large ones. open your eyes, moron. (plus do your really think the fact that thoses announcements that were made a FEW MONTHS ago will have any impact on production before 2006 or so? It takes some time to build a fab..)
c)Or not. Idiot.
d) Do you know how much of the price of a notobook is the screen, compared to buying a system from a vendor with a tft bundled? You cant compare apples and oranges. you know. (hint: cheap laptops have CRAP TFTs compared to Desktop TFTs, and the high quality ones of expensive laptops are only ok by desktop standarts (ok, the resolution is higher, a fluke i really hate, but on the desktop there are somehow too many "OMG! The text size would be so small nobody can read anything! We dont want more than 100dpi!" idiots) but those are expensive, too.
If we only wanted pretty pictures, nobody would have need to sends a probe. you could have paid an illustrator. Terragen renders hightfields with fractal detail algorithms and textures them algorthmical.
So they somewhow photoshoped a more or less high field out of the raw and rendered it with some "grey rocks" or so texture setting, because the standart white snow peaks isnt fitting...
I certainly dont mind science taking its time. This thing was lauchned YEARS ago. one week or two more for correct, final images doesnt hurt much. Even if those random idiots are crying havoc because they dont seem to have anything better to do... Better waiting than having quick crap tossed out.
DVI cables are one of the most inflated ones. They need to be less good than normal vga, but because they are "special", the are insanly expensive.
last march, i bought a quality TFT in a large electronic discounter. Wasnt much more expensive then online. BUT there was no dvi cable inside, so i wanted to buy one. 2m. 50 euro.
Bought one online, 5m,4.95euro. Works like charm.
THe cable market can do such things because there are enough idiots around that will think "more expensive is better", especially with audio/video (the more hardcore idiots even with power cables).
sorry, i meant size increase, not speed increase. The GMR heads and prnl read channel mainly increased track density, not sector density, so the speed increased less then the size.

the same with me.
i noticed a little white area in the program windows, and it seems thats were ads are supposed to be shown, but cydor isnt present.
maybe thats one of the bugs that need fixing...

that this headline failed in trying leetspeak.
Do u think, 2?
Would NOT supporting something make it more open?
That sounds like pretty twisted logic, you know....

Look, here is the internet, please shove this PC crap up your ass.

There is TONS of porn.
This probe lauchned years ago. Every grad student involved in building/designing would long now have his PhD...

and where, smarty, do you get the oxygen from above 50km or so?
There are reruns, you know.
Forensics==quincy. CSI is for noobs.
A logo made of those would be funny, not dumb like the bill borg.
