    You would have beenloved living in the old USSR :) No chouses - just one/two kinds of each product. Me, on the other hand do not mind spending time comparing features, espcelially when preparing to spend a large amount of money (like on a car). On the contrary, I find the process enjoyable.

    I live in Russia (an authoritarian country, I admit) in a Siberian province bordering Kazakhstan. That guy is a dictator of Lukashenko (another wonderful pro-stability president-for-life) caliber, no doubt about it.

    For a single person 10 hour shifts are quite feasible without sleep deprivation and loss of productivity. Been doing it for years.

    Seconded, but two days to recharge is enough for me, I've been taking extra ten hour voluntarily overtime (in my country paid with 1.2 coefficient) like forever.

    Why is this insightful? Facebook will still do a general IPO later. The story is about which very, very rich people get a chance for an early share grab. (the 500 or less shareholders). So your populist concern for the common man is misplaced here.

    That's not what he is saying. If through some disruptive event we go back to the pre-industrial age this time there would not be enough easily accessible resources like coal and oil to build up again. It's all used up, so there won't be another opportunity for industrial age for the next billion+ years. Can't jump straight to fusion from fishing and masonry.

    As someone who actually lives in Russian I can tell you that your former USSR co-workers are full of shit really. Right now is the time an average working person is better off that he has ever been in the history of Russia. Moscow is of course in the league of it's own but he wealth has been spreading outwards for the last few years. I can clearly see it here about 4000 kilometers east of Moscow. I would agree that some group of people are worse off and disenfranchised like people in really small towns (due to generally low mobility of the Russian population) and pensioners who were only recently lifted out of extreme poverty.

    Just let it go, we are clearly talking about the time period in USSR after Stalin's death. There was no serious Khrushchev or Brezhnev cult of personality. The Soviet Union from the 60s on was authoritarian and not totalitarian like North Korea.

    What is the problem for a boy to have mostly female role models? Are female teachers, scientists, engineers, astronauts and politicians not good enough for man? Are you afraid that the boy won't learn how to scratch his nads properly? Or god forbid turn into a fag?
