    Subscribers does not mean popular. It comes with flat rate shipping. This is not comparable to just cable, Netflix, Hulu, etc. The selection is awful sparing a few shows and movies, I never look to Amazon for my streaming entertainment.

    Assume that tech money will come and go. Use the money coming in now to invest in future Seattle. Build subways, railways, etc. Beef-up the infrastructure of public transport with the money you have now. Whether or not tech stays, people will want to live in place where they can get around fast and will not need a car. Logistics and housing are the answers.

    I do not have time to fully read the report, but doubt they address Javon's Paradox. From Wikipedia: "In economics, the Jevons paradox (sometimes Jevons effect) occurs when technological progress increases the efficiency with which a resource is used (reducing the amount necessary for any one use), but the rate of consumption of that resource rises because of increasing demand.[1] The Jevons paradox is perhaps the most widely known paradox in ecological economics.[2] However, governments and environmentalists generally assume that efficiency gains will lower resource consumption and are an effective policy for sustainability, ignoring the possibility of the paradox arising.[3]"

    The point of a pilot is to see if an idea is worth implementing, cost scaling, etc. More money could have been wasted if there were not any pilots, but just implementation.

    The documentary tries to show that ET has become known for being a crap game, without many people ever playing it. Many thought the game was too challenging, which does not necessarily equal the game being crap. I have not taken the time to play the game, so I will not call it crap.

So, Uber, lawyers, and/or emplyees wanting a 3rd type of worker, not 1099 nor W2, has precedent of not being accepted by courts before.

    Eroding profit margins is to be expected when competition enters the market place. That claim by itself should not be good enough to file a complaint. If they mean underpricing in order to bankrupt the competition, they should state that, otherwise there is no formal complaint here.

    The universe is all of space and time. We have not observed/measured/etc. most of the universe yet to determine its shape. The parts of the universe we have observed are flat. Until we observe more of the universe, we will not know if the universe is flat or not.

    My accounting teacher at UCSC would give us Sherberts, like you would have orange sherbert between a mulitple course meal to cleanse your palette. It was an unrelated quick discussion multiple times in a class and it worked well.

    One of the great takeaways (read few) from Catholic School for me was learning about omission and commission. Omission being inaction in your description. I doubt other teenagers across the country learned about omission.

    The US has a vast supply of gold and land backing its currency, at least theoretically it has something backing it. I realize what a fiat currency is, i am just pointing out that it could pay creditors.

    Find managers that can bridge the communication gap between jerks and the rest of the business. There are plenty of business people who know how to talk with someone like a specialized programmer for instance, without having any practical programming skills themselves. Every business success or failure is about finding the right people, culture, etc. Productivity is only one measure and people must be in place to motivate and communicate with all types of people.

    10.4 and 10.5 will still be just as useful. They will not be any less productive. Using those OSes means that you are likely on hardware that is at least 4 years old for 10.5 and longer for 10.4. You clearly have known how to get software for a while, so continue doing it that way.

    Actually, in a Libertarian world, the fire department would have most likely accepted payment in the range of thousands of dollars, preferably in cash or precious metals such as gold and silver. Although this scenario is plausible in a Libertarian world, it is more of a bureaucratic ideal. Most Libertarians would want repeat business and to prosper financially, while bureaucrats want to avoid freeloaders and liabilities.

    You can buy an iPhone without a contract, so your quoted price of $3000 is off. A $200 iPhone w/contract is sold for 3-4 times the unsubsidized price if you really want one without a contract. Still your point is valid for those willing to carry two devices, but your prices are off by a good $2000+.
