In the book Wilde never states directly that Gray sodomized anyone, but there are allusions to scandlas involving other men that would lead the reader to believe that something like that had occured
ah hell, just because SCO is in Utah doesn't mean ou have to blame all the Mormons for it. Not everyone in Utah is Mormon, and not everyone here owns stock in SCO
that would be hilarious. Hmmmm, I wonder if I can convince some movie execs to make a movie about the shuttle crew that keeps forgetting things and having to go back for them? We could call it "The Turnaround Gang" or something. It can be worse than some of the other crap out there.....Mebbe we'll just call it Armageddon 2
I think they are refferring more to the fact that the shuttle and all the current launches are administered from remote locations, rather than immediately next to the launch pad
Oh Man, if I could get a version without those 80's guitars in it, I would be so happy. Every time something that should have been stirring or emotional occurs, Toto comes in with those damn guitars to take away all my enjoyment
Those NIMBY's are the ones who made it impossible to dispose of waste in Southern California. No one wanted a new landfill, so they had to keep one open for over 6 years past when it should have been closed. The NIMBY's are the ones who deny the native americans in Utah the right to use their barren desert of a reservation to temporarily store nuclear waste that continues to sit on the sites of nuclear power plants...... the NIMBY's do have a good point in not desiring somethign disagreeable near their homes. However, they rarely offer an alternative solution, but simply scream about how they don't want something near them, while continuing to drive SUVs, "forget" to recycle or do anything to try and lighten the load on the system. So before you congratulate them, kick them in the butt for not doing anything but complain.
and why a different blend for each city? Are you trying to tell me that the special mixture for one city is not environmentally friendly to other places? Why not make 1 or 2 (warm climate and cold climate version) of a cleaner fuel that covers all the bases? Then you would have a large enough demand to justify the cost of switching all the special refiniries to just the 1 or 2 blends...... instead of the foolishness we have now where each city can dictate their own special blend.
This might be a good way to transition from a foreign oil based economy to a "clean renewable nature friendly economy." This way we give ourselves more time to develop cheap reliable alternatives to oil.
WTF?
Bulbs on some of the Barco CRT projectors do run you 400 or 500 bucks.
At my university surplus sale you can buy a projector with a burnt out bulb for 75 bucks because it isn't worth it to them to pay for a new bulb.
I realize that DLP is different, and that 7.5 cents an hour is insanely cheap (who wouldn't pay say 30 cents a week to watch 4 hours of delightful video?) But many people can't see that, and can't justify the large expense.
You are a good example of arrogance gone horribly wrong...let me guess you charged that poor bastard 200 bucks to tell them to turn the damn surge protector back on
preview post? what's that?:-P
Seriously though, if you assume that the frame of mind you are in when you preview is the same as when you wrote it (moments before) what are the chances that you will catch the error you made (the unthinking error that is) now? It seems like previewing may catch a small amount of errors, but that misspelling you just used is not likely to leap out at you a few seconds later. That's why it's always important to plan ahead and go over things like resumes and important documents a day later for those kind of errors......but this is slashdot. Who really cares?
cliches? do you mean clinches?
I hope it doesn't "cliche" anything for you...not quite sure how one would go about "cliche-ing" things at any rate.
Sorry, I couldn't help mentioning it.
I did presume that you were stating your own opinions.....however why is isolation unhealthy? What exactly is the benefit of socializing? I have a few people I tend to socialize with, other than them I am surrounded by smacktards. If you lived here I would expect you to want people to leave you alone. However- Extreme isolation where you have no contact with society and shoot trespassers on sight, yes I can see that is being unhealthy. At leasting recognizing your neighbor's name and face would be a good thing just for safety's sake.
As for going to the zoo, well then you have to deal with large amounts of what are generally quite annoying people.
the desire to have more space is just a natural instinct? I currently live in a small apartment. I would love to be able to actually do more than sit in the chair, lay in the bed, or mebbe sit on a couch. A yard would be awesome to be able to sit in, grow plants in , or something! I think you seem to have forgotten the difference between what you don't want and a natural instinct. Maybe you like living in a tiny box, but don't expect me to.

A New Ice Age?
·
· Score: 5, Insightful
Do you know how much CO2 levels have fluctuated in the past BEFORE men came around? How about the ice ages and the warming in the time of the dinosaurs? What about the 15,000 scientists who have signed a petition against the Kyoto Accord because they believe the science predicting global warming is flawed? I am not against the preservation of the environment, but when you use scare tactics on par with the US during the Cold War (We're all going to die TOMORROW unless you do something about it right now!) I refuse to listen to you.
Before you ask, I acquired my information by reading the news and searching out information for myself, so find something else to use against me. Maybe the fact I am not as big a linux nerd as you? That should get you points here on Slashdot
why 30 minutes? I can usually rip stright to MP3 in under 5 minutes....on my Duron 900 laptop. Do you get some sort of quality advantage with CDex or something?
Yes indeed! Listening to Apollo on shuffle is awesome! Sadly, I think a german pressing, possibly another country or two messed up the tracks and put all of fingertips in as one track. But, other than those few random copies everyone gets to listen to "What's that BLUE Thing , Doing Here?" as well as the rest interspersed throughout the much longer songs
are you a student at BYU? I love those surplus sales. I picked up a "Silicon Graphics" monitor there...looks great, just make sure your can force your games to run at 75 Hz, otherwise it goes nuts. Too bad it has developed a flicker of sorts:-( seeing as I paid 70 bucks for it though, not too much wasted.
Oh man, that David Lynch movie. I personally couldn't sit through the SciFi versions.....may have to try again in the future. There is lots to complain about in the David Lynch version, but the main thing that frustrated me was Toto and those damn 80's guitars. Every time there was a stirring moment, every time the movie seemed like it might save itself from the ridiculuous extravagances of David Lynch, Those 80's guitars (courtesy of the band Toto) would come in and ruin it!
if you are referring to the Hunter Seekers, then actually they were remote controlled. The one that almost killed Paul (the child) was controlled by someone buried in the basement. They found the operator afterwards.
The main problem is over the last 400 or so years people have been pushing a "naturalistic" viewpoint of science. It's not that God doesn't exist, but rather we can only see certain things and so we base our science on those things. It wasn't intended as a way to get rid of God or say he didn't exist, but instead it was supposed to be a good way of looking at things. Over time it has come to mean Science = Anti-religion, but that was not the intention.
at BYU (Brigham Young University-Provo, Utah) all the timeclocks were made by diebold. Funnily enough about the same time as one of the big "oops we have more votes in the computer than voters" mistakes with diebold voting machines the timeclock where I work on campus decided to start freaking out. The current solution is use a different one about 200 feet away.

Behold! More Corn!
No No NO! It is a Jambox Not a boombox. Sheesh Igninoc and Err were right, this earth is a primitive place. The Moon Rulez #1!

ah, abuse. I feel enlightened

DLP is probably similar to other projector type bulbs in that they are insanely expensive to replace. We're talking 400 or 500 dollars here
