The SS fund is like the cookie jar for off budget spending. This is where all of the money for payback spending projects come from. If they voted to do this all it would put the lobbyists out of business. And we couldn't have all of those former senators and representatives and governors out of work and roaming the streets now can we?
Most are against any regulation, including regulating abortion. They don't support government funding or subsidy of abortion. They believe in leaving it to the states as the constitution dictates. There is a very vocal minority that is pro-life so the topic is pretty touchy and rarely discussed in public.
If you had looked at me in school, you would have seen bad seed. But today I am quite different. I no longer sell dope to kids at high school for the first thing. Next I am now a degreed professional and have a good job that supports my family in a suitable manner. The problem with tracking is the lack of recovery. At eighteen all I wanted was to be drunk in the morning and high in the afternoon, then drink soda and harass the coffee shop socialists at the Kettle all night. Starting a family changed all of that. If I had decided to start college even two years later than I did, I would have been denied student aid because of my police record from when I was a juvenile. Two years later and I would still be a dishwasher instead of a developer reading/. Is tracking good? No.
My problem with modern education is the way they start teaching version A of a topic, then they reach a point and switch to version B which is completely different from the original. Math, English, and handwriting are just examples of this.
I think what the real problem is that the culture has changed so radically in ten years that the things that the people in the article value (pretty handwriting, a thank you letter, the hand written Xmas family update) are no longer culturally relevant and they are scared.

So, because you suck as a web programmer you want to punish the rest of your company and force them to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to support your inabality to learn how to deal with multiplatforms/unwillingness to have the program contracted out to someone who knows what they are doing?
I said it once, I'll say it again: If you use front page/visual interdev/vb for real web apps you deserve to be taken advantage of. You deserve to be taken advantage of by ms with predatory licensing agreements. You deserve to be taken advantage of by hackers who love all of those exploits in fp extensions.
Even our marketing director can build a web app with front page. He can even write to an access database. Can your app write to an access database? I thought so. He isn't smart enough to figure out why the site breaks every time there is a new OS/IIS patch or service pack. UHHH, is it because they are trying to fix a system that will never be secure? Well lets help that process out by finally making IIS part of the core of the OS. Yeah, that way when the system is compromised they can have access over the entire os. Oh, wait. That isn't a good thing, is it?
Hey why don't you write a web app that requirtes win2k sp1 pre q12345678, ie 6.1.2.3.4.5 with no hot patches, office xp(a1) with sp2. Oh and you need to truse ten web sites, and let those web sites have full controll over your computer the entire you are there. Oh, wait. We drop-ship for your company and have to print out your pack-slips that way, don't we? I thought I knew who you were!

So what about all of those gas powered scooters tht are out there now? Do you see people trying to drive them on the interstate/freeway/highway? No, because it is illegal to have them there. Do people drive gas powered scooters from suburbia to metropolis? No, that isn't what they were designed for. How would thease scooters be any different? Would it suddenly become leagal to drive them on the interstate?
This is sort of like whining about not being able to row boat to the moon. That isn't what it was intended for.

So what we mean when we say production is building our products. The other areas being Accounting/Purchasing, and systems support/integration which is where we use Python.
I think that you were saying that from your perspective the software is the end product. From my perspective the end product is an automotive accessory. I don't make software, I help my company make the parts that we sell. There is a big difference.
My company's heart beat is vb/sqlserver. I admit it. But at home I run Linux and needed another language. I picked up on python and i have simce convinced my boss to start moving everyting except our production software to py!
