Mmmm, I'm skeptical about this one. As a lawyer, why would you do such a thing? You'll make your client and yourself very impopular, anyone could tell that in advance. So, he must have got damn good reasons. My guess is he wants to prove that she gets paid by Bayer (and after reading some articles on her blog, she probably does). I have looked into HPV and the massive lobbying that is going worldwide to install mandatory vaccinations and I have seen how, in this case, Merck, has had blogs put up to promote the idea and has paid bloggers to write about the dangers of HPV and the connection with cancer. So, think twice before crying wolf.

Because I used to do quite a bit of system building for family/friends/friends-of-friends, I consequently got alot of support calls and felt obliged to take care of "my systems" (I still don't know why). But after some time this became a nightmare, I was getting so much calls that I almost quit answering the phone and was afraid to go into the pub for fear of bumping into a friend with computer problems. I had to do something.

So, I did this: the first time someone contacted me to come by and fix the PC (some of them didn't really ask, they almost demanded it), I said sure, if you drop off the pc at my place, I will check and fix it and you can pick it up next week, so I can fix the pc when I have some spare time.

You know what? Since then (2 years ago) I only fixed 1 pc, because almost all of them don't want to be missing their pc for a whole week, so the go into some shop somewhere and I have my spare time back...

  21. Sad day for Flanders/Belgium and /. on Podcasting Censored by Government · · Score: 1

So, we're on Slashdot. But with a story which is probably the biggest troll in /. history.

This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Mr. Verstrepen didn't follow FCC rules and broke Belgian law and now he gets fined. End of story.

In Belgium we have a law that doesn't allow political parties to have radio and/or television stations. Why? Because we think that you have to be careful when you mix political parties and mass media. Take a look at Italy and Russia if you want to know what I mean.

And don't worry, Mr. Verstrepens and the Vlaams Belangs views and messages are getting through. Some days ago, Mr. Verstrepen told the world that he hates paying parking tickets and really enjoyed almost running over a parking guard.

I'm not going to tell the Vlaams Blok/Vlaams Belangs history here. I was born in a Flemish-nationalist family, so I witnessed the rise of this party and some of it's members closely and I don't like them. Partly because I don't agree with their right-wing ideas, partly because their just plain incompetent. But as a real democrat I do defend their right to organize and speak out, but of course, following our laws.

And /., why did this get posted? If you can't read the original document, which you probably can't because it is in Dutch, don't post it! You stupid ignorant yankee. So, that's off my chest.

So, a sad day for Flanders/Belgium and yet again a /. troll. I really wonder why I still come here.

I was thinking about why the hell they were doing this when I suddenly remembered something. In 1998 when I had my first cell phone, some friend showed me how you could turn a music score into a ringtone. So I found a music score for one of my all time favourite tunes ("Girlfriend In A Coma" by The Smiths, for those interested), turned it into a MIDI-file and converted it with some tool to the format of the Nokia phone. In those days they didn't sell any ringtones, but now ringtone-versions of popular songs mean big money. So I think the MPA-slimes figured out there was a backdoor and they are trying to shut it.
