The comic con panel for the mini series was very good. The trailers looked amazing and it was one of the shows I was most excited for. The availability of the original series online for free for those of us that have never seen it before was probably worth a post by itself.

But still, not having a real job, making a comic, going to conventions, and playing video games all day isn't too terrible a life, even if it isn't filled with supermodels and sports cars.

You're absolutely right, and the wish lists as set up are meant for everyone to be able to participate. You can buy a book for $4 if that is all you can afford. Hell, for the price of a bottle of beer in a bar here in D.C. you can give someone in a hospital 20 minutes of distraction and fun.

  13. Re:Specificity cripples charity on Annual Child's Play Charity Drive Begins · · Score: 1

Is requesting specific items so bad? They are working with the hospital, not to mention the fact that this is a somewhat specific minded charity drive. First, the hospital can't accept certain things, new or used. The example they give are stuffed animals on their site, as this type of toy is prone to gather germs in an already germ infested hospital environment. Also keep in mind that this is gamers organizing a drive that was to focus on getting things you wouldn't normally have a hospital or charity buying or donating...notably consoles and gameboys, and games to go with them. "I wonder why a toy drive is bothered with at all, why not just ask for cash?" You should note that cash donations are possible, and they have both a mail option and a paypal one. These guys have their bases covered. But the wonderful thing about this system is that you can log onto amazon, buy something specific that you might be interested in the hospitals and the children receiving, and know exactly what your donation goes to. I'd think this would make it easier for people to give, you've offered suggestions for donations, 15 pages worth in 5 different hospitals around the country, and if for some reason that isn't enough, they can donate cash too. It gets shipped straight to the hospital with no extra effort on their part. And there's no chance that their donation would be rejected for some reason of hospital regulations. All in all, I can't think of a better way to do it, especially when you consider the community that this drive is aimed toward.

Ok, I agree with alot of the things you've said here. This movie would be great if the end was the suprise where it turns out Samus is really a woman. But unfortunately hollywood can't seem to make movie posters without some sort of ass in the shot if available. I do take some serious offense to your carefree attitude towards child pornography though. You should seriously reconsider your thoughts on the matter. The real problem with child porrnography isn't the people who look at it. And just because you can choose not to doesn't change the fact that whoever is taking the pictures is abusing children. I'm all for personal freedoms. I'm getting close to libertarian in the majority of my views. But this is exploitation of individuals who have no choice in the matter, and that is simply unacceptable.

Remember that even if what you are discussing is a "right" you might forfeit it when your expression of your "right" interferes with the "rights" of another. also keep in mind that you are normally guaranteed protection against governmental interference without due process of law. Depending on the basis of review, this might mean that if the government has a legitimate or compelling state interest, they can frequently restrict your rights. Your home might be your castle, but when you use the internet, you are interacting with others outside your home, and your castle isn't going to be an ultimate protection against wrongdoing.

With the current composition of the court, this could lead to some very interesting concurring opinions. I'm going to have to call some friends and make sure I get a reserved seat for the oral arguments on this sucker. I knew there was a reason I decided to move here for Law school. 19. Positive effects for television on Youth Spend More Time on Web Than TV · · Score: 5, Insightful

As much as I hate MTV and the crap that they force on the viewers they still have, I find that they are approaching this transition in a positive manner. There are several shows that are utilizing the multitasking potential of the internet with television, in order to receive feedback and make shows interactive. MTV2 does a show that requires viewers to log on and vote for the next video in realtime. This is the way to combine your programming with the power of the internet and not lose out. By making your TV programming customizable to some extent by the viewers, I would think they would be less likely to change channels or even turn the TV off altogether.

So before we start calling names towards their management, remember that the ballpark is just trying to keep out of any lawsuits.
