I would recommend xubuntu. All the good parts of Ubuntu without Unity. It comes with XFCE which is now my new favorite Linux windowing system. I tried Mint with LXDE also but I did not like it as well and that version of Mint did not seem very polished for dev work since git did not work out of the box.
Don't forget that St. Helens is as close to Portland as Mt. Hood. Can you say double whammy?
On another note, I was at the Newberry Caldera a couple of weeks ago and went on a short hike over and obsidian field. Pretty amazing what volcanoes can do.
This would be great for backpacking. I would not have to bring my stove with me. Just take a leak in the bag, seal it for 5 minutes and then chow down. Should even still be warm. My favorite is beef stew. Yummmm.
I think your right about my friends conventional flashlight. My Dorcy is not the brightest but it works for what I need it for. A light weight flashlight. I would even consider the battery free one on the link you provided if it weighed less. Sure, it is inconvenient to have to shake it every 5 minutes but backpacking is filled with inconveniences. My major goal is to make my pack as light as possible and still have some luxuries such as a flashlight. When you are hiking 15+ miles a day, every ounce counts.
Sorry for the late reply. I do have a Fry's within 5 miles of where I live. Next time I go there I will check out the forever flashlight and compare results.
Is your Dorcy flashlight one that hooks onto a keychain?
I just fished mine out of my backpack to see the check the brand. It is a Dorcy and it takes 4 aaa's. I got it at GI Joes.
I would have to say it is kind of on the flimsy side and definately is not waterproof. However, it is very lightweight and that is important when backpacking. I am very satisfied with the amout of illumination it puts out. Maybe I will check out some of the other brands and models to see if something else may suit me better.
I take mine with me on backpacking trips and it is great. Not only is it brighter than my friends conventional flashlight that is 3X bigger, I don't have to worry about the extra weight of a bigger flashlight and spare batteries.
You can play it online on PS2. Plus on the PS2 version, you can use all the grab buttons.
Graphics may be slightly better on the Cube, but SSX3 has the best PS2 graphics ever, IMHO.
In America, we let people make informed decisions for themselves.
In Brittain, the government makes decisions for the people.
I guess your government just thinks you are too stupid to think for yourself.
There are no options out for SCOX. I looked a few days ago with dreams of becoming rich with my PUT options. Hopefully somebody will start trading them soon.
"Everyone is happy in one week except for you, because tomorrow your broker will come knocking asking you to buyback all the stock at $150/share. If you don't have enough cash in your account they'll liquidate your stock and take your house. Sorry"
Your right. The smart way to be bearish on a stock is to buy PUT options. That way, your risk is limited to the premium of the option. Unfortunately there are no SCOX options to buy at the moment. Anybody know if any exchanges will start trading them soon? I want to get in on the action.
I don't get telemarketers either. If your in Oregon, join Oregon No Call. Costs $6.50 for the first year and $3.00 to renew every year afterwards. I have not gotten a telemarketing call in over 3 years.
If anyone in Oregon is interested, their phone number is 877-700-6622.
I checked this out the other day after reading about it in the latest issue of Popular Science. There is a graphical demo on their site http://www.irobot.com/
I admit I am lazy. I just may head down to Brookstone or Sharper Image and pick me up one of these. Now if they just had a robot that could clean my toilet and shower.
"This one by FAR had the most documentation. And it had more docs than Debian, Mandrake, and Slackware for installation. So I decided to give it a try"
I don't know about Debian and Slackware, but with Mandrake you don't need installation instructions. So who cares if Gentoo has more Documentation. I really like the concept of this Disto but it has a horrible installation process.
I did follow the instructions and when I got to the part where I type in:
insmod pcmcia_core
It could not find it. It also could not find the cardmgr -r command.
What is up with that? I could not even get the networking up because their instructions do not work on my system. I even downloaded the ISO twice and burned like 4 cd's trying to get it to work.
"I downloaded it to test on my amd 333 64mb laptop, but it is still too slow for me to use.
However, it's a little more usable in this laptop than mozilla itself."
I have been using mozilla on my amd 550 k6, 64mb ram and it is sloooooooooow. Tried Phoenix last night at it is lightning fast in comparison. I love phoenix!
Where did he say that you cannot get things done on Windows? Sensitive much?

If I sit 12 inches away from my 53inch widescreen it is just like being in the movies too. It tends to give me a headache though.

We are not talking about Mozilla, we are talking about Phoenix. They are not one and the same.
