From your link, the top five cars' mean monthly sales are for 2012: 48k, 35k, 32k, 32k, 25k. "Some of the more popular models" are not averaging anywhere near 40-60k.
An $X0 game instead of a $X00-$X000 machine as worst decision ever?
I wonder if I can spin that logic to my wife in such a way as to skip dinner at Chili's to buy a used motorcycle.
That's all well and good, but if you really want to help the environment, don't buy (1) Prius. Buy (2) Toyota Echos. Drive one yourself, and give the other to a lower income family to replace their old polluter hoopty. Or instead of an Escape Hybrid, buy a Focus wagon and use the rest to finance solar panels.
Supermarkets have a lot of nice moving boxes, and are often quite happy to give them away. You may have better luck with a local store or small area chain than with some of the larger places. Personally, I like the boxes that the gallon jugs of water come in - quite sturdy and have handle cutouts. Plus it saves the supermarket from tearing them down and bundling them up for recycling.
It's very possible to have iTunes and no iPod and have obtained music from iTunes. I used my Mountain Dew caps before I ever got my shuffle. Granted, it may be unlikely.
I think what it implies is that your long-term OS X user didn't bother installing VLC. Granted stock QT doesn't play full size, but VLC has done both the standard torrented tv show.avis as well as the.mpgs from my ReplayTV (through DV Archive) in full screen on my PowerBook.
While not a board game, we've been enjoying the Totally Insane Card Game with friends lately. It can most simply be described as Uno on crack. It can be played at great speed, and allows for spiteful play as well. Hooray!
Gas tax is already exceeds 20% of the purchase price in the US. What is a fair amount?
Also, taxing gas is highly regressive. I suppose if you hate poor people, then it's a wonderful idea. Of course, with higher taxes, they can't afford to buy newer cars, which means they continue to the drive the bottom 5% of vehicles that cause 95% of the pollution.
I am the poster child for "guy who needs a new computer", with all 450 MHz supported by a whopping 64 MB of RAM, under Win98SE, and Firefox doesn't crash, regardless of number of tabs open (say ten, eg.). I forget the version, but it's several months old. I don't use my wife's Mozilla much, but it doesn't seem any faster. Firefox's faster than IE and not noticeably slow unless I have mod points on a political story.
The only electric steering I've heard about going into production is the type that uses electric motors to assist the completely mechanical link between steering wheel and steering rack. I would be curious as to what vehicle is going to steer by wire with no mechanical link.
The car isn't built to go XXX mph; it's built to accelerate at a given rate, and with gearing that will return some level of fuel economy. You combine that power and that gearing and you are bound to end up with an above legal top speed. (Well, some sports cars may keep an eye on top speed, but even then, they probably care more about getting you up to speed than what speed you get up to.)
Coincidentally, I've used this "20% cheaper" number around one of my Wal-Mart hating friends, and he called it into question. I did a brief survey of some items that I typically buy, and everything was the same or cheaper, and things were often 20% cheaper. If you can save a buck on an identical jug of OJ, why not? Perhaps I'm lucky as my local Wal-Mart is as clean and well-lit as any area store, so I don't get any richer of a shopping experience paying $40/month more at any of the local chains, or $100/month more at the stand alone places.
As for customer service, I'm buying OJ. If I can't handle that task alone, without service, I shouldn't be allowed to drive myself to any store in the first place. And the cashiers are about the same at any of the places.
I thought one way might be to have the "wheel" supported with rollers and then driven by a motor that pivot around the top of the wheel in a circle. Sort of like a powered mouse ball. Not sure how you'd get the slip to slide the motor drive around the tire...
Personally, I didn't see the need for spherical wheels because 90%+ of travel is done in a predominant direction (eg, forward).
- What's wrong with "profiling" the *frequent* flyer? I'd *love* the idea of a "frequent flyer ID card", if it would speed up my passage thru the security checks - the most time-consuming part of flying
Terrorists will just become frequent flyers first.

Too late - Toyota Prius needs software update to prevent stalling. And it is hardly the first or the last.
At least with cars, the notification process is a little more formal.

Your dog rolls in stinky things to conceal its own scent. It's a hunting instinct.
As a content producer, you should get in line for your cut of the tax proceeds.
Michael Stutz's Linux Cookbook first appeared in 2001, at least according to Amazon. (2nd version available in 2004.)
Here is VLC for OS X.

I don't think death threats imply anything about the legality or illegality of a service. You can get death threats for all manner of legal things.

That's not a typo - that's their copyright protection device. If another article has the same spelling error, then they know it was copied from them.
