    why not just disable alsa in 2.6
    there is still build in oss support in 2.6
    btw why not just fix alsa in 2.6 so he can us it instead of backporting and modifing a large part of the 2.4 source base
    i think there are users with a strong need for stability, which wont take up 2.6 in some time
    but i don't belive those users will move to a modified and untested version of a 2.6 kernel

    it's funny
    here in switzerland it is the other way around
    more bandwith with cable, no disconnection after 20h, not even a change of the IP for many month(as long your PC is online), better pings
    2mbit/512kbit for around 50$

    The bad news is for the middle class. American left-wingers would do well to remember that the people receiving out-sourced jobs probably need them more than Americans.
    what you ignore is that most of the offshore jobs are paid very poorly and those peoples have lousy work conditions(think about peoples which will be used for the drug tests)
    the workes there are working hard then and are shafted
    the americans are unemployed and shafted
    and the rich people over there,in america and europe are getting richer

    i really like gentoo .... and portage is very good
    but it is not a system where you can throw in the cd
    and at least 2 hours later you have a fully working system with only answering simple questions you had to answer on a windows install too (often with more hardware working then in windows without additional driver install)
    and for portage, i don't think a mainstream user would enjoy to edit config files after an update
    but the dependency problem it solves very well and it is imho the best system for working with cutting-edge packages

    actually it is perfectly legal to do this in here in switzerland
    i don't believe in rewarding everything someone does
    if there where more people doing things just for the sake of doing them, the world would be a better place

    i got other experiences with dependencys
    it is very seldom something is broken and if it is it is easy to fix (i had a lot more of trouble with redhat or mandrake) IMHO portage is even better at managing dependency then debian with apt
    And, like many other package-dependency-based systems, once you install one library/program manually, all the other packages that depend on the first one have to be done manually too.
    i never occured a file in their tree which had a dependency to a package that was not there
    but just in case you do you could use portage inject to tell the system the package is already installed
    then you are able to install packages that depends on the manualy installed package

    btw most countrys law would require this guy to be punished and if he isn't it has more to do with corruption than anything else
    btw i would not extradite people to the USA because of things like guantanmo
    but that means not that he has not to have a process in my own country for the things he did (by our own law)

    switzerland will not extradite swiss citizens at all(afaik)
    but they could well be punished here for their crime
    it could well be that switzerland does not other citizens as well if there is the risk of a death penalty
    btw those cells do not require you to fill any form
    just hand over the cash and go on your way

    i am swiss ...
    we hand over every criminal we can
    we just don't like to expose bank acounts (good for our economy)
    with the start of this year (or maybe next) the mobile companys are required to record your name if you buy such a prepay card but i think they will leave the old stuff in use without registration
    afaik the swiss prepay cards are the only one you can buy without showing some ID
    we don't hand over swiss citizens at all

    there is no such thing as terrorism
    it is just a question of your opinion if someone is a terrorist
    the famous "Boston tea party" could be very well named terrorism, the french revolution as well
    terrorism is something that goes against established rules
    if the rules are bad the terrorism is good
    if the rules are good it is bad
    thats the cause why i call bin laden a criminal (because he is in breach with a good law which forbids to kill people) but it does not mean he could not be right about the position of the US of A in this world

    that is what i want you to stop
    everyone using windows (paying or not) is giving Ms a bit more of market dominance
    everyone with access to a radio can record any music broadcasted
    like everyone with access to internet can get a collection of his favorite mp3's
    for me it does not matter which way i get something i would have not to pay for anyway

    with nvagp i get around 314 fps at the same settings i get max 163 with my ati card. both at 1280x1024 full detail 24 bit colour
