Yes, that seems a likely scenario. The ESA (RIAA is not involved here) will just go out and file suit without even having a person check the file out. "Sorry your honor, we never bothered to look at the evidence." A more likely scenario is, upon receiving no response, the ESA will look at the file and the story ends right there.

In addition to calling or ignoring, the recipient also has the option of hitting the "reply" button and send an e-mail back. I'm not sure how this all relates to "any form of democracy", though.

But hey, that's ok, let's get mad at the agency trying to enforce copyrights for the artists that make the software instead of the people illegally distributing the software, thus making such checks necessary.

Open source is not a panacea for what ails the world. What a voting system needs is a review by qualified people (not just anyone who might take an interest in it). And I mean the whole system, hardware, software, communications. Once a system is approved there needs to be some way to ensure that only approved systems are used in elections. Sorry, a job of this scope requires the government to oversee it.

Well you're an idiot then. First, where is the word "terrorist" mentioned? Um, nowhere. Poor reading skills aside, let's now do the math:

Taliban-run government, bad thing. You can look up Taliban elsewhere for details.

Government holds an admitted supporter of the Taliban, one who tried to enter Afghanistan and take up arms against the US military, for 5 weeks without charges.

I suggest you look up the laws on "material witness". The government can detain someone deemed a material witness (with a warrant signed by a federal judge) if said witness is a flight risk. This guy had already attempted to travel to Afghanistan via China, so yeah, flight risk seems reasonable.
