I'm glad you got modded up...I was going to post the same thing. Unfortunately, most people are familiar with James Bond only from the movies. The books are much more character driven than most people would suspect.
I guess I don't watch enough late night television. I didn't know what a Rascal is. For those similarly ignorant, may I present....the Rascal. Actually, that's the iRascal, an "online exclusive". The crowd here would probably more enjoy the Rascal High Speed 325: "This Rascal is as exciting as it is stylish. Enjoy the thrill of accelerating to top speeds of 8 mph." From the spec sheet:
Weight Capacity: 450 lbs
Maximum Range: 20 miles
Hell, that could have carried CowboyNeal to the top of Mt Washington!
Let's seem them get into my fully patched XP box. Really. All the recent viruses, etc haven't affected me. Security is as much dependent on the user as the software. Sure, it's fun to blame MS for the Windows security problems, but when the users don't apply the patches how can MS be on the hook? Off the cuff I'd say the average Linux user is much more technically saavy than the average Windows user. That certainly plays a big part in the security of the box.
I agree. It's much more interesting to read the thoughts of a 19 year old college student with his own domain name (with the name being swiped from MST3K).
This is the first time the word "foppish" has come to mind when reading a slashdot submission. What's on tap for next week: "Watch as the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy crew work their magic on slashdot's page layout"?
Why is it in every screenshot I see of a Linux desktop the icons are so big? It looks like they're running in 640x480. Certainly higher resolutions can be achieved...

That's just nonsense. Yes, you can't go walking up to strangers reading and start a conversation but who wants that anyway? There are many opportunities to get to know your fellow patrons. Our county library system has many activities during the day, evening, and weekends, including book discussion groups (for adults, teens, and parent/child), story time for the younger set (so popular that you have to get a free ticket from the circulation desk the morning of the event to get in), board game night for teens...and more activities I can't remember.
I'd be surprised if the SF library doesn't have similar programs (unfortunately their web site seems to be down so I can't check).

You may be surprised to learn I'm not trolling. I'm trying to make a point. The way to get people to switch to open source software is not to announce you're now less feature lacking than a Windows product than before. "So, what else am I missing out on? Maybe you do get what you pay for..."
This is with 4 buckets. My spam bucket received 2,561 ( 72.24%) of those e-mails, with 7 false positives and 9 false negatives.
Oh yeah, POPFile is cross-platform...Windows, Linux, anything that will run Perl (Windows users, don't be afraid. The installer installs an interpreter for you - you'll never know it's there!)

Exhib guidelines call for a 3 p.m. showing of "Fellowship" followed by a 7 p.m. screening of "Two Towers" and then an 11 p.m. screening of "Return of the King," which will carry over into Dec. 17 -- the day of its global release.
When your karma gets high enough you get a free +1 karma bonus that you can turn on or off with each post. You should use it when posting something on topic or particularly funny and turn it off when trolling or posting something off topic like this. Anyway, if you post using the bonus you've essentially modded yourself up. That means you can be modded down as overrated...the moderator is saying no, you shouldn't have used your karma bonus there.
Q: This is great. When will it all be finished so I can use it right now, like this minute? Please?
A: Ogg Theora was scheduled to go Beta (that means the bitstream is locked down, and all features are represented) in March of 2003. Obviously, that's slipped. Alpha 2 is going to be released shortly; but please remember that until Beta, there is no promise that files you encode will be supported in the final release.
Q: Can I use Theora to encode stuff right now?
A: Yes, but we strongly, strongly recommend against it, for anything but test-cases. This is not a full release in any sense of the word, it is simply a milestone, and if you start encoding things right away, there's a really good chance that it will break when you try to play it with tools we release when the final version is released.

Let's see...it's not "Ask Slashdot" and it's not an article or really all that informative. Slow Sunday, time to stir the pot?
Wow, that's a very tidy anarchy symbol they have on that page. I guess they're the orderly order of the anarchists.
Our library system (in MD) is much the same, with a lot of activites and gatherings.
