But the DS has a ton of games. Between the Ace Phoenix, Advance Wars (drool), Castlevania (mega-drool), Animal Crossing (...), the Coded Memories
Sad that you don't mention one game that exist currently.
By your logic, the PSP as a lot of game too. We are all waiting for Christmas. Both library of games are equally crappy...
//I have both machine too. I gave the DS to my girlfriend so she can play The Sims. Sadly it is CURRENTLY the only ORIGINAL (nearly) game that is any good on the DS. //Didn't try Meteos yet
MSI board have 2 BIOS. You can flash one from Windows. The change take effect on the next reboot of course.
You can still do it trough a floppy, and the good thing is that with 2 BIOS, if the update fail, MSI boards recover by themselves.
But I did it in Windows a couple of time. Now Unbuntu is installed on that machine, I guess i'll do it with a floppy (MSI is great, but they support is a little hmmm foreign)
She seems to loves her job and her wonderfull, wonderfull knowledge of video games, and, like the poor saps she "exposed", must be willing to work weird hours, at minimum wage, without any advantage.
Maybe she should work at a retailer?
Oh wait... with all her knowledge, it would probably be below her. Why would anyone else with the same level of knowledge as her work at a retailer when they could be doing shock expose and educating the masses for a video game website?
It wasn't. And a guy would have gotten the same answers. Me think the GameStop guy was probably the franchise owner or something.
Remember that its a job for them, and unlike most buyers, who are there because they are interested in videogames, employees aren't.
Same goes for most of the "specialized" store/entreprise staff, will it be cell phone co customers service or clerk in a Home Depot.
Posting that ground breaking exposee on the net is stupid and pretty much pointless. Those video game store employees might be better than miss shocking fact finding in other things, but they don't go around saying how inept she is doing it. High Tech/nerd/IT people are very good at making fun of people that don't spend their life reading Slashdot. But they don't see the sneers behind their back when they spend a whole evening talking about who will win the next console war.
Someone were to rob an ATM, the FBI would be all over the wire and the paper/electronic trail would be used in court to convict him.
Someone were to rig an election, the FBI would be all over the wire and the paper/electronic trail would be overturned and dismissed, press conferences would be made by both camp where everyone would blame the other, a war would be declared, and the FBI director would eventually give his demission.
Politician are worse criminals than bank robber, because they have better lawyers and public image consultant.
Why would I do that? I'd be bored out of my mind for having finished that game when I was a wee child.
Oh yeah my grandmother finished that game on the N64 will all the stars. (Its not even a joke. To this day she still is trying to get a everything in PS2' Ratchet and Klank)
When I was saying that Nintendo's game are too short by half these days.
Yes a short game is fun, and i'd spend a few quarters anyday on Tempest or Pac Man, but I'd spend quarters on Bubble Bobble too, which is a rather long game.
Wind Waker was too short. I bought a DS and a GBA and there is not 1 Nintendo made game I can't finish in less than 2 hours. The DS is not sitting on the mantle and the GBA is my 16 months old daughter favorite toy now (I bought her Dora The Explorer at the walmart bargain bin, she likes the music)
There is a place for short games, and there is a place for long one, depending on the genre. My girlfriend still plays Animal Crossing on the Gamecube, which I bougth when it launched. Shenmue continue to marvel me on my Dreamcast.
Unfortunatly a lot of aging designer like Miyamoto seems to confuse which game should be short and which one should be longer. Its not my fault if age make them lose concentration. And it seems to be a growing trend for Nintendo. Their idea of making a game longer is to make us collect coins and whatsnot. Every game out there on the Gamecube seems to have some sort of exploration bonus... I hate them, they don't bring any fun the game beside a sense of being Sherlock Holmes's bitch.
But then again, game that are too long suck too. I'm sorry but all the latest FF are too long and become repetitive. And only hardcore geek fully finish San Andreas and Sin City.
I always though that a computer large enough to handle a simulation of the universe would allow us to predict the future, even at individual level if the simulation was advanced enough.
And then I realized that the smallest simulation of the universe would probably be the size of the universe.
Maybe the "real gamers" were just pissed that if you remove the boat trip, the game last about 45 minutes. There is not more than 45 minutes of action in that game. You don't even have to search as there are hints everywhere about your next step, you just travel to and fro endlesly.
Wind Waker is not a game, its a demo of what a game should have been.
And yes I finished the game. And every other Zelda. Windwaker felt like an intro game to the Zelda world. It was very dissapointing for "real gamers" as you say.
My girlfriend enjoy watching me play "those game where you have to search" as she call them. She sat with me trough most Zelda, and especially trough Shenmue. She actually got bored of watching me travel in Zelda.
And even with the cyclone its not better.
But then again, and its not a flame bait comments, everything Nintendo touches these days seems to be beatable in less than 2 hours if you don't mind about the "collectible" items. Only exception seems to be Pokemon, but then again, I hate buying games that boost sales using different colors on the boxes and minor change in games.
And I repeat, it is not flamebait. I have a Gamecube, a GBA SP and a DS, and I try to stay clear of game by Nintendo themselves.
"Arabs, Israelis Sign 'Screw Peace' Accord"
Now I can't find the article online. But if I did, I'm sure I could replace "Arabs" by "Apple Fans" and "Israelis" by "Windows supporters" and make this spoof article become a current view columns in any tech journal.//The substition were random. Please don't see any political comment in this post///Using "supporter" instead of "fan" for Windows was intentionnal though.
I tried to call a Alice in Wonderland room "the Curiouser room" and curiouser was redlisted (blacklisted?)
You'd think they would include that in their dictionnary... its straight from Alice.
I'm so surprised, I wanted it! I'll have to buy a XBox and/or Gamecube and/or PS2 now, all that waiting for nothing:(
I had more hope for it than for my Virtual Boy, Sega CD and Neo Geo pocket...
Why couldn't MS recompile the game engine only and offer it as a download on Live for owner of the original game?
People wouldn't be expecting better graphics/sounds on a old game, so why change them or force anyone to buy a new cd.
Don't give me the "because its MS" reply. Its quite possible to do it that way and would fit with their "Backward compatible for most popular title" statement.
Oh it would be all good if it was like that. Nokia change the behavior at every update. My phone doesnt call 911 by pressing 08 when its locked or not. Some do it only when its unlocked. Some do it both time... And I am talking about the same model of handset mind you...
And as for HAVING to call emergency service... Tell that to the emergency service worker that tell cell user to call us at customer service to change that behavior so it doesnt do it anymore. Like if we could do it or gave a flying f*** about it for that mather. But hey, some client do call...
I work in as a cell phone cie customer service rep, and beleive me when I say that a MS OS cant be worse than the Nokia, Motorolla or Vtech one. I did have to explain to customer that they needed to to see a store tech to flash to a newer software version (ie : Why can't Nokia get a grip about pressing and holding 0+8 for emergency call EVEN WHEN THE KEYPAD IS LOCKED? Ask your local emergency service... Up to 10% of all the call are Nokia pocket calls... And they change that behavior at every friggin update!)
I formatted a 4 gig partition on m disk, just for Mandrake 8.2. It installed just fine.
But every time I star it up it complaint 'Cannot connect to root try to edit etc\host it should fix it'
Fine by me. But as I cant connect to the root, I cant edit that damn file.
So fuck it... If you think i'll download another distro to have that kind of shit. I know I know I had to make a phone call to activate my XP, but it was quick, easy, and i'll be damned if I didnt change my video card 2 time now with no apparent complaint from XP. Try to do that on Linux without spending 2 hours looking on IRC and Google for howto and stupid tarball
(that fucking need a nice GUI btw. A Google on "Tarball decompressor GUI" actually return a link to Winzip! People that claim that they switched 'their parent, friend and familly' to Linux are bullshitter. My mom is on XP and she just got the hang of winzip. Imagine command line tarballing!)
Linux people makes me think of the Amiga crowd in the old day. Every looked pretty and was cooler than the Mac interface, but for the sake of god nthing worked. But they didnt mind, THEY knew how to mount ram drive and fiddle with startup script. Urg
From the Xiph FAQ:
An 'Ogg' is a tactical maneuver from the network game 'Netrek' that has entered common usage in a wider sense.
Vorbis, on the other hand is named after the Terry Pratchett character from the book _Small Gods_. The name holds some significance, but it's an indirect, uninteresting story.
A product name that come both from Netrek AND Terry Pratchett's Discworld can only be a hit for nerds! I know it is with me!
I hope they call the memory module for a Ogg Vorbis player 'Brutha'!! (Of course you HAVE to read Pratchett's Small God to get that one)
I hope every people that buy an 'upgrade' to get more hp on their Honda Civic get nailed at the same time.
My cable modem is mine. I can upcap it if I feel like it. My ISP as a 10 gig limit per month anyway, who cares if I go over it in 3 days.
On a side note, I am currently organizing a pelgrimage to those peoples home to pay my respect.
I mean why else would the address be divulged?? to encourage mob justice?
Anyway Mac address are not unique and can be easily changed... Its not in the cable modem, its into the netword card.
Once I called my ISP and the guy knew I had a HP net card only because of the Mac addy...
But the DS has a ton of games. Between the Ace Phoenix, Advance Wars (drool), Castlevania (mega-drool), Animal Crossing (...), the Coded Memories

And why not mention Googlebar if you have to speak of extension?
g wasn't and isn't up to par with Google's toolbar because it didn't do word highlighting, which I find very usefull.
I'm staying with Googlebar myself. Hopefully it will continue to be updated.
Ooh a Linux plug, complete with bad humor

Why bother?
Someone were to rob an ATM, the FBI would be all over the wire and the paper/electronic trail would be used in court to convict him.

So I wouldn't bother either if I was diebold.
Why would I do that? I'd be bored out of my mind for having finished that game when I was a wee child. Oh yeah my grandmother finished that game on the N64 will all the stars. (Its not even a joke. To this day she still is trying to get a everything in PS2' Ratchet and Klank)
Ken Kutaragi is just a Sony fanboy and therefore must be ignored like any console specific fanboy on any internet forum.

It got very confusing at that point.
