Is this a buffer overflow? Is it insert of code? Or, is it just access? Ummm... since this is just the details of HOW... well, if its used then the code behind the exploit could make more than the infected machine vulnerable, and so, ALL WORD docs could be compromised shortly... it IS possible, until the patch comes out. But, then it won't be available to those pirates so it will spread anyway as the computers they've upgraded become infected... *grin*... tx microsoft.:P
I've been repairing, troubleshooting, and building/modding for years, but the one thing in my way is that I refuse to pay that horrendous fee for micro$oft certification. I know more than most who DO pay for that useless piece of paper, but it gets in my way of being a tech.... everytime. So it goes.
Let's not just dwell on the obvious uses, let's also realize that this means the possible disruption of "disliked" and/or "immoral" to those in our 'oh so christian' whitehouse. This opens up the blocking of information from countries, organizations, groups, and any other media that they please. Infowar has taken its next step. To those haxxoring the DRM I present the newest challenge, haxxoring that satellite. Keep the information flowing!!!
Personally I believe that we HAVE changed the environment and the planet is changing in answer. Fortunately the planet has shown that it, and life, can survive thru evolutionary adaptation no matter how catastrophic the events it faces. But, I truly believe that if the predictions (the really dire ones) are correct then at last Earth will be rid of this cancer called "homo sapiens" and allowed to try again with a species evolving self-awareness. Don't let us outta the gravity well, the species has no concept of altruism.
I love that feeling I get when a company gets some righteous 'tude... just gives me goosebumps. Screw being nice, be RUDE !!!! Plus, in the rule of advertising its perfect, no matter how you do it be remembered !
I agree wholeheartedly, I CAN"T WAIT !!! And, may I also point out that because it was at the end of another episode of Battlestar Galactica I am sorely pressed to find another hour of TV that was so richly stocked with EVERYTHING I wanted. Thank you Battlestar, thank you Joss. Yes, i'm a Browncoat... I admit it.
I AM a 911 operator and have to say that the ONLY advantage may be location of the caller and that would have to use the mac address of the modem and access to the ISP's database to make it viable. Now, maybe there are a small number of handicapped who use their computers more than the phone who would benefit, but as a microsoft PRODUCT? That scares me.The monies available (which I'm sure are shrinking these days) should NOT be put into NEW technologies but into perfecting the existing systems and adding GPS tracking of cell phones, and finalizing revamps of local emergency systems now in place so calls for service are handled quicker and more efficiently.
Now, if a new computer driven system CAN be proved viable.. all is good, but it should NOT be patented by a corporation who could in later years decide to provide emergency services by paid contracts. And lastly, centering attention on a computer (and thereby internet driven) solution leaves out those who do NOT have internet and the required OS.
Yes, this IS, big money going after someone pointing out the truth (I'll refrain from Bush bashing), to silence them and keep the public in the dark. He's going to need the EFF, and ACLU to fight this one since the spammers obviously have VERY deep pockets.
Anonymous, with your oh-so incisive dissection of the relevancy of matters of interest in this thread, and your careful choosing of vocabulary and imagery you have titillated me beyond the pale. I'm sorry i'm not gay, but for you, well.. * blush * maybe I'll consider it, since if you're hetero, you are the most embarrassing example of it I've seen in a long time.
I"ve been using Firefox at winderz update without a problem.. is a lot of fun too when I remember the early days of Mozilla and microcrap blocking alternative browsers.
So, the printer will be interfaced automatically... I can't wait to see the spammers as they take advantage of that!!! The automation has been the achilles tendon for Micro$oft's security.. they know this, and obviously still haven't learned a thing. They don't want people to learn how to use their rigs, but to remain stupid, dependent, and continue to buy M$ product. If people HAD to select print and setup even just a LITTLE bit, their understanding would blossom and become a starting point for further understanding of the computer.
I agree completely with you... I refuse to listen to ClearChannel radio at all, and point out that ClearChan has also been behind a lot of public radio stations being taken over and given to the christian networks. We are gradually and systematically, losing our public airwaves. Soon, public and indie radio will be just a chapter in media text-books.
I don't see microsoft worried about monopoly litigation at all. But, I do see them opening up their code to Sun and making their Linux the ONLY distro capable of running M$ code; ie making Sun VERY attractive and possibly changing the entire Linux landscape . That would be a monopoly, but easily defended by saying they're giving to the Linux community exactly what they've been asking for .
I want to go to space before I DIE! I'll even work for McDonald's as long as its NOT on Earth. The dream of so many, and available for a small few. Is this what you get from Bush's last tax cuts?
This makes me think of humanity-as-virus and the need to find fresh hosts to perpetuate the species. Could this 'will to explore' also be an instinctive trait within the viral forms we fight daily here within our own bodies? We consume natural resources and so far, NOT to the benefit of the host. Is this not the actions of a virus? Though I admit that to go to the stars has been a deep and obsessive wish of mine, I am also concerned about allowing such a dangerous life-form to escape the gravity-well. Being self-aware does not mean we have carte-blanche to infect the solar system and then the galaxy. A self-aware virus would inherently view its own perpetuation as a good and natural progression, regardless of the actual outcome of its spread.
Or does someone have the stickers? If you don't see them go up, you have no idea who actually is responsible.

remember who's in the White House... So correct... what Bush et al has done is basically setup an oligarchy and removed the democratic underpinnings that USED to be in the constitution. The growth of a company will soon be "good for the country"... and when M$ gets AOHell they will make SURE that ONLY their software will be able to interface with their services.
Sooooo kewl. Hat's off to Rossy.
No. No, no no.

very well said Vitriol !!!! Your take on Bush is on the money.

Mass. is the most racist and intolerant state in the union... after Texass that is. They don't deserve tech, they deserve a public spanking. IMHO.

due to moving around the states... So, am I unique, or just a mutt?

That is something to ponder, along with what restrictions and/or panels and boards will they implement to oversee development paths.
