Downloading cracks or keygens can't be illegal since IMHO they are NOT copyrighted. Although I'm sure a M$ lawyer with oodles of cash to back him up could eventually appeal till it found a court that would see it as attempted theft due to the sole reason for obtaining such software/info. I'm not as worried about the moral issue as much as the picture I'm getting of geeks who've abandoned Hacker Manifesto and joined the ranks of the unclean Beast.
Here in the states that would be impersonation of a police officer and highly illegal. I get an image of thousands of corporate armies, each independently operating with their own objectives, restrictions, and initiatives... and THAT is scary as hell. We've already seen what can happen with abuses of authority by law enforcement agencies that must answer to the public, but where is the accountability in a board room? For more, read Huxley's 'Brave New World'.
I never felt comfortable wearing phones with music playing since to do so removes one of the most important means of gathering information about your environment. I grew up in ST Louis Mo, a place that in the 60's was VERY dangerous for guys (or 14 yr olds like me) with long hair, and then 20 years in the Lower East Side in NYC. The idea of dampening the input of sound as a 'shield' is silly. "Oh no! The headphone-forcefield!!! I can't break through it!" Gimme a break, you're just scared to say "NO" to someone or relate to people who are 'different' from you and hope that music will protect you from the terrible world around you (which you obviously DON"T want to touch).

I finally joined one of the 'networks' because of a recommendation from a friend, and was a bit non-plussed by the amount of personal information I was immediately asked to provide (by choice fortunately). A wonderful database for people to phish to say the least, and I saw absolutely NO warnings about possible abuses by unknown parties. I also must admit that the program and the idea of 'networking' with a bunch of people I don't know doesn't really appeal to me, and it will probably become a dusty link.
Yes, Corel IS SCO. I understand those who love WordPerf.. but... if is now the BEAST, and must die. Pls, help kill it. And, Offtopic, we all KNOW that M$ has money in the SCO/Linux fight, so let's squash WordPerfect, SCO, Corel.
I know this won't work for you admins.. much, but for the rest of you... I use comcast, but I DO NOT use my comcast email. I use an independent mailer, and also have two extra spam-mail-accts, just for registering software, or any other stupid thing I just HAVE to put an email on that isn't a friend. My mail is clean, and no spam. Just clean out the spam accts every once in a while, and laugh at the stupid subject lines.
I for one NEVER liked that logo, magic is the antithesis of computing...not to mention the 'man' in the name and its ramifications. It just sounds like they spent 2 minutes on the name, and went back to playing TuxRacer. I do respect the distro, pls don't misunderstand me.... I really like the 'plant' idea.... hmmm, Opiate ver.10.3?
I decided the info you posted was enough to warrant a bit of decisive action, so i sent a letter to WilTel with a link to the examination of the spam.. This was the reply...
WOW, thanks for the expert analysis...I'll forward on to our Abuse
Team and the sales VP who manages this account.
Might at least hamper the Tennessee spammer a few minutes...:)))))
What this further illuminates (IMHO) is a fundamental change in our society.. basically the loss of a sense of altruism, which I considered the bedrock of Roddenberry's idea, and its substitution with fantasies of people over-coming the trends now prevalent in the US ie: money, loss of middle class, and fear of poverty.
Sooooo rite !!! I've been touting Mozilla (and Firebird) for quite a while now... I also don't use Opera... too much spyware games there.. IE still has a lock on some webservices, but I have managed to do some downloads with Mozillla at M$'s site heehee.. take that gates...
Spyware is there to; take advantage of, spy on, and abuse. It has NO redeeming qualities whatsoever. Spybot, AdAware and Spyblaster should be part of ALL pre-packaged computers with documentation in a special yellow and red folder marked urgent.
That's not gas, tha's water!!!!! LIFE !!! We've introduced life !!!! We infected Mars.. oh well, might as well start the 'management' of the Martian landscape now, why wait? Should an obviously viral lifeform be allowed to escape the gravity well?
yep, i agree totally.... i didn't start watching till the reruns came on these last months, and i'm hooked. What a wonderful show! Whedon takes more chances than any other producer out there, making for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. In my mind the only TV show of that caliber was Twin Peaks.
Obviously you don't use BSD, (I'll bet you bought redhat's new tripe and did a full install) or you would be extolling its virtues despite the occasional bug. Oh, btw, i doubt your intelligence since your spelling sux.......... (awaiting your feeble return-burn, you 'anonymous coward')
I wouldn't take a cent from that administration. Bush's presidency has become an Orwellian nightmare which DOES parallel Hitler's rise... (compare the sloganeering of Bush with the exact same from adolph)
"404" K ----- just like a non-existent website? the money will never show? ROFLMAO!
good for MIT, they have the balls to stand up to that rascist-texas-moron....

The response letter is perfect...... a joy to read

I"m not even sure how to digest that info, but it is compelling
Pls, no rascist views are applicable.... does point out an inherent flaw in policy of 'contract with the lowest bidder'
thanx for the link, wonderfully done ....
and what exactly are you saying?
ROFLMAO!

benedict, i thought a while on your note, and I do agree..... they are very similar. Nada else to say... no argument, or stance to take... :)
