oh sure, because that will not cause a massive surge in retaliatory attacks... people from the mideast are our neighbours and fellow citizens... nothing like nuking all of their relatives and hoping that ends the violence

my first reaction to this was i hope they hunt down the bastards that did this and kill them

but thats not what i really want, maybe the "war on terror" will be forced to get back on track...

it was of course perverted into an attack on a "contained" iraq, killing multitudes of civilians (100 000 according to the lancet), and dragging us into a quagmire that has distracted us from dealing with the terrorists that were actually attacking us... anyone remember that most of the 9/11 hijackers were saudi?

i dont know, its all been said before... all i really wanted to say is that I have sympathy for the victims of this attack and I hope our leaders unite and get on to the task of fighting terror instead of creating it

Back when I saw my first full scale console war there were playstation fanboys and nintendo fanboys.

The ps1 had terrible graphics (I literally couldn't stand all the jagged edges and rough textures....felt like some horrible VR arcade game), slow loading times and in my own opinion crap games.

The n64 by contrast had the best looking games I had ever seen, goldeneye, mario 64, even diddy kong racing. Zelda Ocarina of Time was a massive game with almost no loading time (when you put it next to a ps1 at any rate).

I cant say I know much about the dreamcast but I do know that its graphics were a good few notches above the n64... and it died.

Sony still captured the market (with more violent games?) and I believe it was sony's sucess with the ps1 that got it where it is today. Which just goes to show its not quite about graphics and hardware, or even game quality...

I can definately say that a lot of people on the "dole" are getting more per week in than I am (after tax). The way the system is geared here in Australia there's very little incentive to go out there and "have a go" because all that happens is that you end up with less money in your pocket and you have less time in your life to do the things you like.

thats rediculous, last year I unfortunately ended up on the dole (moved cities and didn't find a job as quick as I hoped to)

My payment, as a 21 year old living with a partner and no other dependants (ie children) was $360 a fortnight. That included rent assistance. I also had to attend job search sessions at 8:30am every morning under threat of having my payment cut. (thus preventing bludging and sleeping in all day) I got job the very week my payments started (thank god) but I still had to attend that dreaded place for a week until I actually started working. According to the ACTU http://www.actu.asn.au/public/about/minimumwage.ht ml The minimum wage payable in Australia is $467.40 per week or $12.30 per hour. thats over twice what you get while taking part in mutual obligation (ie jobsearch activities). It sure encouraged me to start working as soon as I could.

Interestingly the Howard government is hinting at "reforming" (conservative for "taking away")the minimum wage so who knows maybe dole bludging will start to become more attractive...

Car electronics are a lot simpler than that. As long as the device is not fitted by the manufacturer (who could incorporate it into the cars electronics/computers) it will be easy to disable.

Third party devices in cars need a power source, simply wire up a hidden switch that interupts the power when you want it to be disabled and turn it back on when the device is being inspected.

We used a similar method to disable the handbrake switch for in car video screens (required by law) but re-enable it when cops are checking the car out.
