    I think you mean MINIX (MINimal UnIX) It was developed as sample source code to teach operating systems by Andrew Tanenbaum of Vrije University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Minix was first introduced in 1987 in the book, "Operating Systems, Design and Implementation." Within a few months, more than 40,000 people subscribed to the Minix newsgroup on the Internet. There were versions for the PC, Mac, Sun, Amiga and Atari ST. More information at www.minix3.org.

    Bob May, who wore The Robot's suit in the hit 1960s television show "Lost in Space," died Sunday at age 69.
    Here is the story from AP.

    The Robot is best known for calling: "DANGER, Will Robinson". The actual voice recorded was that of the announcer for the show.

    I hope when he writes other novels he starts new stories in other settings.

    Too many of the current SF authors create franchise universes with more and more sequels.

    The Ring of Fire series has grown worse with each novel.

    The latest one, "1638: The Dreeson Incident" by Eric Flint and Virginia DeMarce, is nearly 600 pages long, of which 400 pages consist of talking heads discussing family relationships. I felt like I was reading a soap opera script.

    Since it does not represent current year income, the income will be allocated over the number of years represented. Expenditures such as bonuses and other compensation, which may or may not be monetary, are never tied to specific income items. They could be recorded or buried as ordinary expenditures at any time.

    Charles F. "Chuck" Dolan is the founder and Chairman of Cablevision. The President and CEO, is his son James L. Dolan.

    They are more than just employees, they control the company.

    As others have mentioned, having a Verizon box in the street in front of your house, does not necessarily mean that you are a customer.

    It seems that the only way to get funding nowadays is to use as many hot buzz-words as possible in your description of your discovery. Improved Method of Chemical Fingerprint Recovery is not bankable. Nanotechnology Reveals Hidden Fingerprints is.

    A 25-square-mile shelf of floating ice that jutted into the Arctic Ocean for 3,000 years from Canada's northernmost shore broke away abruptly in the summer of 2005, apparently freed by sharply warming temperatures and jostling wind and waves, scientists said yesterday.
    Why has this taken over a year to surface as news?

    The first computer I bought was a Data General MicroNova. It was the size of a dishwasher, had 256MB RAM, an 8" floppy and 10MB storage, 5MB fixed and a 12" 5MB cartridge. I had to refinance my house to buy it.

    The first application I wrote on it was an inventory and production control system for a vitamin manufacturer.
