    Motorola commercial cell phone was developed in Israel. Motorola has its largest development center in Israel Intel has four major development centers in Israel.

    Microsoft has one of its three strategic development centers outside the US in Israel. It is based on several startup companies that Microsoft has acquired in Israel, which are now part of this development center. Most of Windows NT technology was developed in Israel.

    AKAMAI technology was developed in Israel by Danny Lewin, its co-founder and CTO. Mr. Lewin was killed on 9/11 on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center.

    SAP AG, the enterprise software leader, has its larger development center outside Germany in Raanana, Israel. This center, called SAP Labs Israel, is also based on several startup companies that SAP acquired in Israel.

    Checkpoint, the world leader in internet security and firewalls is an Israeli company.

    The AOL Instant Messenger was developed in 1996 by four young Israelis.

    Given Imaging, an Israeli company, developed the first ingestible pill-sized video camera, used for medical diagnostic without the need of an invasive operation.

    The Israeli company M-Systems developed the USB-Flash Drives, used for portable storage all over the world. The company was recently bought by SanDisk, an American company, the world leader in the flash storage market, established by an Israeli.

    IBM, Kodak, Cisco, HP, Google, Novell and many others, also have large scale research and development centers in Israel.

    Mirror Worlds Technologies, Inc. was a company based in New Haven, Connecticut, which created software using ideas from the book Mirror Worlds: or the Day Software Puts the Universe in a Shoebox...How It Will Happen and What It Will Mean (1992) by Yale professor David Gelernter, who helped found the company and served as chief scientist. The company ceased operations in 2004.

    The troll is Mirror Worlds, LLC of Tyler, Texas (a subsidiary of Plainfield Specialty Holdings I, Inc.) which filed the suit against Apple, Inc. for patent infringement .

    These trolls buy up patent rights of defunct companies and use them as an excuse to file infringement lawsuits.

    I believe that professor has nothing to do with this lawsuit.

    In the late 60's a Fortune 500 corporation, that ran a chain of over 3,000 retail stores, needed to calculate annually the bonuses to be paid to the store managers.

    To do the calculations they used a room-full of Comptometers operated by dozens of women.

    The process took as long as a week to complete.

    I have most of my addons working on Minefield 64-bit 4.0b7pre (released 08-24-2010)

    I disabled "Add-on compatibility checking"

    Even though a few of them show as incompatible, they seem to work normally.

    The exceptions are Xmarks & Web Developer which don't seem to behave.

    I wrote a web-based certificate issuing app. The layout of the certificates was mandated by law. I have found that creating PDF's is the best way to ensure that printed output stays consistent with the report design requirements. Plus you can easily save them locally or email them with the assurance that the recipients will see the same report you designed.

    They shoul have repeated Chinese, not Italian. From IBM's site: "...It can convert English to and from Arabic, simplified and traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish."
