Because they're the most idiotic idea ever dreampt up. Why buy a NEW phone each time you need more credit when you can keep a higher quality phone, and merely buy credit at the store?? Can you think of the waste caused by 'disposable cellphones'?
How the hell do you people get free long distance on mobile phones? Over here (UK), we have quite a bit of competition in the mobile phone sector (supposedly), yet calls to a land line are significantly expensive (several pence per minute, worse at peak rate). Yet over in America, all long distance calls are free?? Don't your companies have operating costs??
... because I just finished on a program I've been making. Transform Watermark, or "Twat.exe", will allow you to unencode watermarked e-books in addition to this!
Why does it always seem to be women who have the ability to be so hypnotised? I desperately wish that could happen to me. Would fix all of my mental/social problems immediately:-)
I have to disagree. Sometimes, I've tried walking down a pavement with my eyes closed to see how easy it was. It wasn't. This was in a village so there aren't many cars, often the road is totally clear, and I had to keep opening my eyes at least every 10 seconds to discover that I wasn't following the path and was veering onto the road!! Not a good idea.
draw the talent away from the RIAA music nazis and empower the independant labels
I've seen this comment so often, and one thing strikes me. What were the 'big' record labels before they formed organisations such as the RIAA? They were independent. If we support independent labels and even if the talent DOES move to them, there's a very good chance that they will merely form the next RIAA, and the whole damn process starts again, with them using newer technology and us cracking it all over again...
Yes, but I thought you were citing that as an example of how the 'missing letters' usage of the apostrophe was more common than the 'possesive' meaning. I don't think that's particularly true with its and it's.
What do I do? I ask the guy at the store if I can have them in MP3, if not then I buy something else. Hint: the list is growing smaller and smaller day by day.
1. Buy CD-RW. 2. Download P2P file sharing app. 3. (optional) Pay for a buy CD if you want to pay the record label for it. 4. Download entire CD from P2P app. 5. Burn to CD. 6. Play in car.
Although I agree with you on the usage of apostrophes with regards to the abbreviations, I wouldn't say that your its/it's example is a good one. "it's" doesnt 'trump' "its" in usage, it has a completely different meaning.
Erm, actually, I'm quite glad that this was rectified... I thought that the poster MEANT to say 'illegible', and that you needed to have legible handwriting or something to get into office!
Interesting how people say that IBM died, lost its might in the computing world. Yet, it seems to be surviving quite well as a strong force, evn in software! This could also mean that Microsoft will never 'die', and will remain strong forever. Horrible thought.
It's irrelevant. A spellchecker wouldn't fix an acronym anyway.

Your question strongly suggests that you know the answer to both of those questions:-)
But seriously, I think that Americans understand perfectly well how the DMCA works. THEIR POLITICIANS INVENTED THE DAMN THING! Why oh why can't you people find a way to control your fucking greed?
Let's take up that argument. 'Civil disobedience' is quite an important ability for people to be able to have. If P2P didn't exist, the RIAA wouldn't be feeling the heat right now, their backs wouldn't be to the wall, and they'd be continuing to charge extortionate prices for their music without any kind of comeback by the users. Music piracy has allowed users to give the record labels a VERY strong message, one which couldn't have been given otherwise. And don't say that people could just have boycotted the companies, because we all know they wouldn't have. That's the reality. Piracy is the only mechanism which is going to work in sending a message to big business which thinks it can get away with murder.

Through lots of experience, I have learnt that 'cute nerd girl' is an oxymoron.
A 'tyre', as defined by Collins English Dictionary, is:
tyre n a ring of rubber, usually filled with air but sometimes solid, fitted round the rim of a wheel of a road vehicle to grip the road. or US tire.
10. Can We Survive 2003? - I have a theory on this. The ramifications will take a while to work out. Can I tell you in 369 days time?
By then, you'll be too late. I will be able to tell everyone in 365 days' time.
I dunno. The Simpsons is quite easy for me to understand (I'm UKian) and I'm pretty sure that's created by Americans.
How smart do you have to be, then, to take your brand-new SEALED copy to a different store to exchange it for whatever you want???
Smart enough to forge the receipt of that store? I don't think they'd exchange it without you showing them the receipt as well.

As a Texan, it is most degrading to be associated with California.
I hear you. I can see how it would be most problematic for you to be associated with concern for the environment, tourism or intelligence.

No, it SHOULD be:
"So if you earn a lot of money"
If all 1,1 million students and teachers were to take the offer of Sun, the total value would be approx. 200 million danish crowns (28 million $).
I'd just like to point out that Microsoft make more than that in a day.

Judging by some of the amorous comments made by Slashdotters, let alone average people, about AOL, I fear that may be wishful thinking
