Where's the progress on Apache's httpd server? It's still mostly configured from a monolithic, messy text file with.htaccess files sometimes strewn around random directories. There is no web-based configuration even though it's a *web server*. There's no other GUI configuration, and building one to work with Apache's text file is very hard at best.
I've now switched to Cherokee and I'm not looking back. I'm not sure what happened to progress with Apache.
Here's a better way: don't have close buttons on tabs. They're freaking annoying. If I'm in SeaMonkey or Firefox I disable all tab close buttons and use ctrl-F4 or middle-click to close a tab.
Chrome's interface is shitty and one of the shittier things about it is having a close button on every tab which makes me close them accidentally sometimes. Good job I don't use it as my main browser.
What if Lincoln had let them secede though? By now they might've realized the error of their ways and be a lot more respecting of individual liberty. But we just don't know how it would've panned out.
You just need to convince people that subsidizing is a sign of communism and let them weigh their fear of communism against their symbol of freedom and independence.
The other thing you could do is somehow get both major parties in the US to support raising taxes on petrol. There's virtually no chance for other parties to get in so the people wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
Fuck Julian Assange. He's nothing, nobody. He's not 1/100th as significant as the least of the leakers.
What the fuck are you talking about? He had the guts to publish valuable information on the US government's wrongdoings through his organization, and is now likely being persecuted by the US (and UK in cahoots) government for doing so. His situation is extremely significant in my opinion. His and Bradley Manning's actions may even have inspired Edward Snowden and if it hadn't been for them we would be none the wiser today about the expansion of the surveillance state.
my computer keeps crashing completely when I try to go to Facebook or Wired in Chrome.
Full on, mouse frozen, nothing moves, must hold button down for 10 seconds to restart computer frozen. I don't know what the hell it's trying to look for
I was brought up in Scotland, and I think I'll continue to live here because 1) It's pretty and temperate, 2) Australia has too many deadly creepy crawlies, 3) the US is too smug.
You have Alex Salmond, which pretty much makes up for all of the USA's smugness combined.
And until we've gotten a permanent civilization off this Earth, let alone one that will absorb vast increases in population, we have to think of the Earth as the limit of what we have with which to sustain ourselves.
Besides, a typical European contract has a similar notice for both employer and employee.
Yeah, to give another European perspective: I'm in the UK and I've never had an IT employment contract without a minimum notice period. They generally start at 2 weeks for either side, rising to a month's notice after the sucessful completion of a trial period.
The analogy would be better if the diary was left out in the open, but closed, mind you, for everyone to see
What about HTTPS or other encrypted communication? Do you think the NSA aren't working on decrypting that too? That IS the equivalent of a locked diary.
Not me - I actively tried to find something other than Apache and stumbled upon Cherokee.
My issue with Apache is configuration. It's a clusterfuck mess. Whatsmore there's no half-decent graphical configuration to get you up and running quickly, just a huge messy conf file and if you're really unlucky, a bunch of.htconfigs scattered about the place. Cherokee basically forces web-interface-based configuration and makes a decent interface for you to do so. It would be nice if it based its config on XML so you could choose between web config and XML text editing, but oh well.
I agree with the other poster, vote third party and stop giving a shit about whether it will make a difference to the outcome. It's about increasing other parties' percentages over time and sending a message to the big two.
You mean Weapon of Mass Democracy.
Cherokee.

most people I know aren't frightened. They just don't see any practical way to get rid of the bastards in charge.
Out of interest, do any of them ever vote Republican or Democrat? If so, do you tell them they should start by never voting for these parties?
What if Lincoln had let them secede though? By now they might've realized the error of their ways and be a lot more respecting of individual liberty. But we just don't know how it would've panned out.
Oblig. XKCD.

They have nothing to fear.
But plenty to hide. :-)

So build integral fast reactors that can use nuclear "waste" as fuel. Win-win.
This can't be right, solar doesn't work
I am interested as to how Germany is powered during the calm nights.

Sounds like it's trying to do you a favour.

Yeah, when Google crashes it's no problem for me; find some other search engines and bing! I'm surfing again in no time.
Google has already defeated Microsoft and Apple
Yep, that must be why MS and Apple are bankrupt and about to go out of business...
Panem? How can you eat a TV programme?
Sperm? Egg? Stem cells? Embryology?
And until we've gotten a permanent civilization off this Earth, let alone one that will absorb vast increases in population, we have to think of the Earth as the limit of what we have with which to sustain ourselves.
And do you know how to use a question mark.

I wouldn't believe it myself if not for the fact that I, personally, have had inanimate objects hurtle towards me inexplicably.
Kids are a bitch, aren't they?
