I switched to irssi connectbot because of other keys, such as pipe , etc.
With irssi connectbot, you can long press the screen, which pops up with pipe . This saves at least 4 taps and 5 seconds by not using the soft keyboard.
Instead of using/usr/bin/whois, I used some whois search engine for some stupid reason. A day later it was snatched up. Super annoying. I'm waiting for the company to lapse on renewing it so I can buy it back.
...was to run a cronjob to issue a find through the mounted usb device. Well, until I just implemented the fix found in this forum.
Originally I liked the fact it powered off automatically, because I'd only use it for backups. I'd issue a few dd statements to wake up the drive, then mount it, do my rsyncs, umount it and it would poweroff. This drive lives with my server in my closet, so the excess heat isn't helping anything.
from '98 to '02, it was ridiculously easy to obtain copyrighted information. A few students had created a web app called uw neo (later became uw tribe). This program would scan all the windows shares out there and catalogue everything. I'm not sure if the university cracked down on that search engine or not (or if they're using it to nab people).
I've been doing a lot of traveling lately, and the Nokia 770 (internet tablet) is quite the companion. Sure it can play video and music, but the ability to connect to any wifi hot spot (or gprs via cell phone) allows one to quickly look up information. If you like to travel lite, this is a very powerful gadget. If you plan on using it frequently, add a portable bluetooth keyboard with it and you're set. Best of all, it runs linux!
Well, when I was in highschool, I would watch him on seattle's comedy show "Almost Live". Aside from the occasional science experiment, I mostly remember him wearing blue tights and chasing down criminals. I still have nightmares from his butt wiggling back and forth.
I'm not disappointed at all about this news. DVDShrink is a better alternative to dvdxcopy. Dvdxcopy bothered me because it would add a 5 second splash in front of every dvd you burn. Dvdshrink does not.
I am still perplexed as of why a spammers wants to bypass someone's spam filter. Obviously, the person will simply delete any spam that gets through. They won't read it, they won't buy the product in question! Well, that's the case for me at least. I'd imagine the.001% of people who do respond to spam have no intention of ever using a spam filter.
This was covered on slashdot before, and it took 606 takes to get it. They had to cheat one of the transitions with cgi because they didn't have a room long enough to do it all in one shot.
I setup spamassassin 2.6 for about 80 people at my work with great success. Originally, people were getting a few false positivies a week. The trick is to add custom rules in the global configuration file (local.cf). Add keywords that are specific to your organization, and it will greatly reduce false positives. Note - if your company sells viagra, this won't work for you!
I was torn between several mp3 players before finally deciding to buy the nomad zen nx (30gb). In fact, I wasn't even considering the ipod while looking.
The nomad zen is much cheaper ($260), and has a 14 hours battery life.
I think the whole violations of free speech is a bunch of hooey.
If I put a restraining order on some person who has been harassing me, is that really violating their freedom of speech? Any judge would most likely laugh at the person who would use that as a defense.
Hello there,
I would like to inform you about important information regarding your operating system. It is a piece of shit. Please delete it and install Linux

I noticed bytemonsoon has been resurrected into zenith-net. Same layout and all.
Of course they have a disclaimer "...The administrator of this site (www.zenith-net.co.uk) cannot be held responsible for what its users post, or any other actions of its users. You may not use this site to distribute or download any material when you do not have the legal rights to do so."
Uh yeah... I was shocked to see almost all the posted torrents were illegal.
We have something very similar at the University of Washington - It's called UWtribe. As soon as I read this article I emailed the site operator (partly because I know him).
So far, he hasn't been contacted by the RIAA, but who knows what will happen. Two things about UWtribe, only students can access it, and they must be on campus to grab files (firewall). I wonder if chewplastic.com operated in similar circumstances.
It's called SNFS. The method is different, but the idea is the same; mounting drives over ssh. I played with this over a year ago.

How about -
Option 5.
Spend $25/month at blockbuster and get unlimited rentals. True they don't have the selection, but you'll be able to get the most popular dvds.
>The article says they pay "as much as $25 an hour
My roommate worked there over the summer and was paid around $33/hour. Yes, I was very jealous. I'm even more jealous they hired him fulltime.

Great, time for the NSA to switch from Security-Enhanced Linux to Windows Vista.
What could possibly go wrong?
Stage 2) Use Bittorrent to distribute content
Stage 3) Profit!!
This way they can sell ads, and be flexible for all of us people with odd schedules.

We thought if we threw tons of money at technology, it would solve the previous voting fiascos. At this point, another one seems imminent.

The northwest segway club reported record membership. The 3 Segway owners are reported as being too damn lazy to walk.

It's called greed.
