    I sure as hell did. KDE worked much better. The whole desktop FELT faster. urpmi works surprisingly well.

    Yeah, you're right. Sorry about that. There's a couple of European anti-American trolls on /. that I'd love to meet in person and smack around a little.
    Just because an American owns an SUV or 4x4 doesn't make him a soccer mom or yuppie or whatever. My family's ranch is 34,000 acres w/ over 40 miles of dirt road between it and the nearest highway. There's quite a few of us that can't drive anything else.

    This is a sign of weakness that they do this. I wonder how much money and time they wasted on this but apparently after seeing that fictional Linux kernel error, probably not much.

    I used Redhat 7.3-9 and each release would skip playing mp3s/oggs under a light load (Mozilla, Mozilla Mail, couple of terminals w/ ssh) on a 1gig PIII laptop w/ 512 of RAM.
    By sharp contrast, Mandrake does not skip under much heavier loads. Also, not based on a scientific test or anything but Mandrake FEELS faster. I look forward to trying out the 2.6 kernel that came w/ my 9.2 boxed set today.

    Wow, now Stallman will finally have to get off his soapbox and actually do soemthing for his religion I mean cause. I have been wondering why he hasn't done anything about this SCO problem when compared to ESR and Perens. Stallman has been pretty quiet and I expected him to be the most vocal.

    I'm now befuddled "Mr, Walmart Pants." I'm sure I'd be inclined to take offense if I knew what the hell that meant. Anyway, I have never seen a online-retailer that couldn't conduct transactions w/out popups.

    That's funny since I just bought 4 books from Amazon, a rifle scope from swfa.com, and a sling and cheekpad from cactustactical.com using Mozilla and blocking pop-ups.

    It has been my experience that ultimately, a decision that affects a great deal of people or one person is usually made by ONE person.
