If it's not a plain jane x86, hacking/linux on the XBox won't be as wide spread. It will still happen, but there are much less resources, especially people who know PowerPC.

[i] SilenX power supplies are simply the quietest active cooled power supplies on the planet! With a ture 14 dBA noise level from 1m, it will blow away any other so-called "silent" ppwer supply on the market today. Zalman? Nexus? Seasonic? There's no comparison. Under load, the difference gets even wider! Thanks to some innovative technologies, SilenX power supplies can not only run quieter than other power supplies out there, but do so with higher efficiency , greater reliability and beter stability. Isn't the Microsoft rule, 'get it right the third time'?
If they can get it out to stores BEFORE the PS2, and have some quality games, Sony may become a distant memory. Also, none of this 'multiplayer online support coming in a year or so' mumbo-jumbo.
I think Microsoft should BUY Nintendo.
Why?
Compare the design of the GameCube to that of the X(tra-large)Box.
Nintendo also brings to the table, IP like Mario, StarFox, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pokemon...
Microsoft can have the console for the 'advanced mature adult', and at the same time capture the kiddy market.
Technically, the PlayStation I and II are junk. Technically, they shouldn't have survived. Just like even though DOS/Windows were'nt the BEST OS (by far) they dominated. Marketing and other things led to this.
I just got a call from the resident moron downstairs. "Hey, I've gotten like 10 emails in the last hour, all with Zip files and I can't open the attachments!"
When Sony designed the PS2 they were a couple of years earlier than the Xbox so clock speeds were lower, the 300Mhz MIPS RISC processor was very fast for the time, much faster than any available Intel chip, they were still being used in SGI workstations for example and those are beefy pieces of kit.
When the PS2 was released (October 2000), you could get a 700-933MHz, 256MB, GeForce equipped PC from Dell for less than $2,000. That type of PC > PS2.
I remember seeing one my friend bought on eBay for $450, and saying "Well, the graphics are almost as good as the PC...I'll hate to see what happens when DNF comes out"
I'm still waiting, but PC graphics have progressed ten fold. Seen Quake III?
We have an 15 year old monitor that came with out Lucent phone system, black and white only, it's 13" or so, and it's used on some servers boxes in the back room.
I need to be able to store 200-300 phone numbers
I need the snake game
Thats about it.
I'd be happier with a phone that only needs charged once a week/month, and doesn't drop calls, no static, etc...

The real reason for using Times is that its easier to read, because it's proportional.
As far as characters per page, it depends. What was the text?

The correct way to write "tanooki" is "tanuki".
In the japanese mythical stories, "tanukis" are creatures with transformation abilities.

NASA has been evaluating it...
On a related note, they use NVIDIA/Linux setups to view the Mars Rover data.

On many keyboards, the CTRL and ALT on the right side will not cause a reboot. Only the left side.
Maybe it's not a keyboard issue and a PC/BIOS issue. My Dell at work doesn't have this behavior, but my IBM and eMachine do.
2 ASP's we use at work cannot be used with non-IE browsers.

I don't see why a kid today can't type in a page of BASIC code out of a book.
Why not?
Computers don't book up to a prompt like this anymore:
OK?
Microsoft really should include some sort of Visual Basic with each copy of Windows.

And no, the paper sleeves some games are coming in, just aren't cutting it for me. Jewel cases forever!
I actually like the DVD style cases better.
I hate plastic/paper sleeves.
Yes, 'campers' have always sucked.
Been complained about a million times before. But, you can't win by camping alone.
Couldn't it NOT be shut down?
Just like with Napster, there's a core that they can shutdown and be done with it. Are any of the popular P2P networks truly independent?
