You missed the point. All these are cgi of space shots and battles. There are no actors involved in this. I believe all the original scenes are rendered in the Amiga's default resolution, which is 320x200. To redo them to HD standards would take hundreds of man hours to redo all of them. Even with the original models.
With out the original models everything would have to be redone from scratch. I doubt any studio would be willing to foot the bill for a 20+ year old tv series that only a few die hard fans remember.
Assuming the original models are available, there's no reason why a modern Beowolf cluster of couldn't be redone at a higher res
While I do believe the original models where lost, you still can't just drop a model in and render it at a higher res. Not if the original models where rendered and created at the low resolution. It's like blowing up a low rez jpeg image and sticking it on the side of a building. There just isn't enough information in model for it work.
You could resize the skeleton but you will still have to manually re-texture all the models. Like the jpeg example I believer there are algorithms that would help but I doubt they would be effective.
Content over quality. While there is some merit to what you say, I would be more opted to say it depends.
It depends on what you are watching. If I want to be mindlessly entertained, then to me the quality doesn't really matter. I have a plex playlist of old tv shows, MASH, Giligans Island, Night Court, Hogans Heros, ripped from dvd with a few that came right off late night TV. So, yes, mindless entertainment that works.
Same with most Hollywood movies. Most are crap, the ones where quality matters, very few, I will go see with friends in a movie theater. Most of that is for the social experience anyway. Same with watching a movie at home, I'm doing it because I'm with my family. Odds are if I watch a movie alone I won't finish it because I'll think of something better to do. Honestly, I really don't care about the quality of most movies ether, dvd, br, fine.
But there is where I draw the line. Most of the time if I'm watching something I'm watching a documentary. An there where I want quality and content. There is a difference in watching a nature documentary in SD then watching it in HD. You do get something out of it.
When more content in UHD comes out in that genre then I will drop a sack full of shekels on a UHD TV.
An yes, I did subscribe to the Curiositystream. Best $6 bucks a month I spend on entertainment.
It's not. WMP has long out lived its usefulness. I honestly thought it was already gone. Imagine my surprise when it opened up the other day on some obscure video format that I had long forgotten about.
I believe this is the reason that we will never see HD episode of B5 on BR. While all the live action scenes where shot on 35mm film, all the space shots where CGI. Which was primitive at the time. They had banks of Amiga 2000/3000 doing the rendering.
All these scenes where shot in 4x3 format and at low resolution. They wouldn't scale well to a new format and would have to be completely redone. It would just be to expensive and the powers that BE don't believe it would be worth the cost.
I believe that I read some where the master tapes containing the CGI models has since been lost or destroyed.
Actually going to disagree with you there. Traditionally, the audio jack is on top and that is a bad spot for it. Putting it on the bottom like Samsung did in the S7 turns out to be a better position.
I too thought it belonged on the top like in my old faithful S4, gone to phone heaven before its time. Then I put a headphone jack in and it became obvious that it belongs on the bottom. Here is how.
Take your head phones put them in the bottom jack.
Then look at whats playing on the screen.
Put the phone in your back pocket.
Welcome enlightenment.
There has defiantly been a changing of the story types here since The Great Taco One left. Back then before/. was "sold" the news for nerds did seem to matter. There where more technical questions and I could actually post a question and get a reasonable answer.
Today the stories and posts just seem to be whatever is hot at the moment with a slight lean toward being a technical site.
Holy Crap! A 3 digit UUID. I thought all you guys had gone beyond the rim. OR maybe a myth the we could tell our children. Like unicorns and honest politicians.
You are correct. I should have previewed that before I posted it.
I should have said is you grind up the waste then you mix it for the glassifictaion process. I would imagine that you want to keep the final product small, say the size of a marble so it can be easily mixed with a medium for pumping. I wonder if ordinary concrete would work for this part of the process.
Actually not as much as you would think. All most all of the technology has been developed. The oil industry has been poking holes in the bottom of the ocean for 30+ years. They have gotten really good at it. The only technology that I'm not sure has come to maturity is the storage part.
The term is called glassfication. Basically the waste is mixed in with slag and turned in to glass. This could be ground up and pumped in to the holes along with a binding agent.
An if you don't want to poke more holes in mother earth just for this issue. Then we can make it even cheaper by piggy backing on oil extraction. If oil exploration comes up with a dry hole examine it for the feasibility of waste storage.
The object is to get the waste so deep in the bedrock that it will eventually be carried into the planets mantel for a few billion years. But the important thing is to get it out of the biosphere.
fission reactors would be a perfect energy source if it weren't for the problem of disposing spent fuel, a problem we still haven't solved 65 years after the fact.
Yeah we have. Spent fuel rods can be recycled and most of the fuel recovered. Stuff we can't recycle could be buried deep below the ocean surface in a Convergent boundary where plate tectonics would carry it deep into the earth and out of the biosphere.
All these problems wouldn't be problems if a bunch of smelly hippies from the '60s and '70s hadn't decided to protest everything nuclear instead of just nuclear weapons. Infact just about everything from global warming (if it exists), to plastic in the oceans, to famine in Africa can be laid at the door step of these smelly hippies.
If the facebook has its way with virtual reality then the worlds oldest business will vanish. Cross physical feed back with AI then things get... creepy.
Are you really that stupid that you think Seoul matters anymore? Of course you are. Your Trump Derangement Syndrome won't let you see it any other way. Let me explain this to you and I'll try not to use any big words so you will understand it.
For the past 20 year American presidents have been playing with kid gloves with North Korea, all because of Seoul. Sanctions, treaties, and bribes to get the North Korean leadership to give up a quest to get nuclear weapons. North Korea broke every agreement made during that time.
So now, here we are. North Korea has nuclear weapons and has developed a delivery system for them. At this current stage in the âoegameâ North Korean missiles and the weapons he has are unreliable at best. They are also limited in size and power to fission devices, those equivalent of the Fat Man that was dropped on Nagasaki, or about 21 kilo tons.
Current estimates put North Korea's to about a dozen such weapons and a delivery system can reach all of Japan, Guam, and maybe the western seaboard of the United State. Even if he was to launch all of them now and they all work, as horrible as the results would be, they will be far worse if we don't do something now.
While you sheep keep bleating about Seoul and pursuing a path of appeasement North Korea will continue to develop is technology. They are already testing hydrogen bombs. Instead of kilotons we are taking mega tons. They are called city killers for a reason.
What do you do ten years down the road when he has hundreds of them and a reliable delivery system that can reach anywhere on the planet? What will you do when he sells some of them or the technology to Iran or the Islamic State? A terrorist organization that would think nothing of driving one in to any western city and setting it off.
Take off your TDS blinder and you will see that Trump is doing exactly what needs to be done. We cannot afford to appease this North Korean nut much longer. You are worried about Seoul. Trump is worried about Seoul, Tokyo, Gaum, Los Angeles, and the rest of the world.
But that is what you and people like with TDS can't stand. You are too much of coward to think for yourself and see things for how they really are. You are too much of a coward to admit that no matter what you say nothing will change reality. And that reality is Trump is doing just fine.
An stop trying to attribute something funny to Sun Tzu. You clearly haven't read his book enough to understand it.
Backups? Yes he does. His ledgers make 3 copies. One goes in the filing cabinet, one to the customer, and one in a fireproof safe.
