    now if we could just get OSS in U.S. schools. It's a public school system. We need kids learning a sytem of the future (sorry, but MacOS7 or Windows2K doesn't count). We need FREE-as-in-speech software running on every computer in every high school, every jr high and every elementary school in america. not that hard considering all the manhours i'm sure linux geeks would be willing to put into imaging a linux install and putting them on the desktops. I mean c'mon. why use microsoft when you don't have to.

    If the code is promising and the developer is gone, maybe it'd be easier to Fork the project into "MyProject2 - MyProject reborn" than to try to "hijack" the project off sourceforge. I'd definitely would fork off into my own development. I know what you mean by you wnat the thoughts of the main developer who started it. He could give you insight into what you should do from where he left off, or he might become excited about the project and ides you would have. Until he talks to you Fork it.

    It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper, but you wouldnt get all the features of XP Media center... like watching a DVD then suddenly "Illegal Operation". Or you're browsing your photos then "Error: WINDOWS JUST DLETED THAT FOLDER"

    Dear God, Maxtor. I am a maxtor die hard and will buy maxtor till the day I (or they) die. I have had nothing but goodness with maxtor drives. they are fast, and i ahve not had one fail on me yet. I have had deskstar and sever other various name brands fail on me (seagate, western digital). util maxtor.

    but when i compile in the pre-emptive patches for 2.4.19, my kernel becuase REALLY unstable. it'll crash reguarally. It felt like i was on windows again. I noticed little speed improvements, but the speed slowed down before a crash. I use X and KDE 24/7, but that sholdn't crash the kernel (i.e. caps/scroll lights blinking) maybe it's just me. or maybe my compiler.. or cpu, etc. but i tried it on 2.4.18 and 2.4.19

    this is incredible because it runs on a phone, right? people are talking bad about it are probably assuming it's a normal 3d engine. If I can play this on my nokia, Then i would be /very/ impressed. And it says it can do multiplayer via bluetooth. sounds good to me.

    Maybe becuase Linux works for transmeta. I'm not sure if that would have made the comment lean one way or another. AMD is also using money to help open source projects (including kernel) to be ported to x86-64, their new architechture.

    I thougt it was agrreed to mane the new kernel 3.1. 3.1 is better, as everyone knows. As a user, I am disappointed the new kernel will have to wait that long, but who's goung to argue? (That's a nice tie, Linus. Yes Mr. T, I'll wait another 6 months)

    I know the flash linux version 5 wouldn't work if /dev/dsp was in use. The beta 6 version fixes it. Or maybe it's time to upgrade your clunky old box. Maybe buy a new one with new Windows XP on it from Best Buy.
