That's a little harsh. Remote wipe is good enough. My corporate Blackberry can be wiped remotely. I think any smartphone should allow me to login to my account online and activate remote wipe to my device. Maybe they do already. I am sure many folks here have smartphones, does that exist on personal accounts?
So what do people in China do for fun? According to the news they aren't allowed to do anything. Not meant as a flame, just wondering because we never hear anything good.
....or how about not being a spoiled brat and accepting Aunt Mildreds gift with a little gratitude and respect. There is a saying, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".
From the demo I saw (I never actually tried it), it looked to me like an online collaboration tool for groups. You could chat with the whole group, launch shared screens for collaboration etc etc. You could add and remove users from the wave as you go. It tried to blend all kinds of things into one platform hosted on a central server. Google were never really able to convince people why they need this tool (myself included). I remember after looking at the demo, thinking how painful it might have been to actually use in the real world.
Why its mostly enterprise, and a good chunk of users in said enterprises also run Firefox or Chrome. I couldn't care less if a new site does not support IE6. That's that Intranet web browser.
Exactly....most probably had no fucking clue what was being asked and probably didn't want to look stupid. Hey, if I am with the President I must be against the terrorists. Not picking on Americans, I don't think other countries citizens would fare much better.
Came here to say this. Seriously, reading about building your own, I felt like I was blasted back to the 90's there for a second. Plus putting all those things together and keeping stock on hand. How does this not cost your employer a fortune?
Just lock it down. Don't allow anyone to post on your wall, hide all your personal info, or better yet don't list every damn aspect of your life. Don't post photos. Send private messages to friends instead of plastering it on their wall. Just make sure you go back in often to check your settings because who knows when the latest and greatest feature will be added and you allow it by default.
If you do have a couple of friends you would like to share more with just group them together and open up specific things just for them.
Oh, and for gods sake don't tell the whole world what you had for breakfast and realize we do not give a crap about your farm or your mafia.
enjoy
What? Your comparison is a little off. Your example is one that deals with sociopathic behaviour. I am not saying people should be allowed to text, but getting up on the balcony, holding your hand out and saying "Though shalt not text while driving" is ridiculous. Knee jerk reaction is to create a law. You can't legislate against stupidity, but you can create laws to put away violent criminals (even when some get away).
While I agree this is pretty straightforward there are no stupid questions. Anyone that instills that atmosphere in our meetings is equally a liability. This was a "dumb" question that has been well answered by many posts, including the first part of your answer.
Exactly, we monitor our own kids tv watching. This is never something I would trust in the hands of a bureaucrat. Violence is much more of a concern to us then the odd booby flashing on tv. We got it covered.
From the way they operated he may have taken pictures of the secret source code with a Walmart disposable film camera and handed the film off to another operative in a lunch bag at the train station.

Didn't know the ham radio lobby group was so powerful. :-P
I wouldn't hold my breath. There are all kinds of powerful folks for who this would not be in their best interest.
Think of it as a circle and not a line. The two end points (extremes) are actually very close together and have much in common.

I suppose its possible but then they have made the leap from stupid to criminal.
So if I post the press release to Slashdot, will the editors post it? Might be a good experiment in itself.
That's a lot of sweater for $3.99.

So, you monitor your mom from her basement?

Because it was only fraud, you make it sound like he downloaded a album off piratebay.
I like the idea of these things but am not sure my 30GB cap will be of much use. Highspeed caps are an issue in my area.

to think before implementing worthless laws.
