This is not true. Windows Automatic Update still works on illegitimate copies of XP. SP3 would have gotten blown down regardless. I have seen unlicensed copies receive SP3 and IE8. All friends of mine of course....not me....ahem...no.

Regular Toronto Police Service is analog though but hardly anything that can be pickup up from them will be sensitive. I suspect the explosives on hand had way more to do with it. He may be smart but that was a dumbass move.

I felt bad for him. I don't get kicks "herd laughing" at random strangers. The internet is littered with the corpses of kids on the wrong side of internet meme's. What is the point? And I was no nerdy kid at school either. I was a big kid who could throw a punch to the face of any punk that tried to punk me. Some people ask to be made fun of and deserve it for their attention whoring ways, but Star Trek kid was just lost in his own imagination which unfortunately got forwarded to a billion people.

I think the system works fine. Far left and far right each have their extreme viewpoints and the give and take tug of war results in a free market where laws are passed to prevent horrific abuses but works well for the majority of people who use their freedoms wisely. The trouble really begins when one side lets their guard down and lets the other run amok.

I was thinking of this very thing the other day. I was on the net long before any of my friends and family even knew what the internet was. Then when they finally joined in they used it mostly as a social tool, where I use it mostly as a learning/hobby tool. I have a FB account but it is spartan and have very little info about myself and I might check it once a week or so. But I spend hours on the net every week just using it for my own fun and learning. I understand why they like the social aspect I just personally have very little interest in socializing outside of my tight circle of friends. The real joy is learning new things. I laugh when people say how technically adept the younger generation is. The majority of them are just as clueless about the pipes and the infrastructure as their parents. They just aren't afraid to use their narrow scope of apps (twitter/fb) on their mostly malware infested notebooks.

I was going to throw in my $0.02 but your post explains it so well there is no need. The human ear is a wondrous thing when it works well. Like you said, it can effortlessly tune in on sounds it wants to hear and tune out the stuff it doesn't. This is the hardest thing for people to understand. Depth of sound is what it is all about. I have been losing my hearing for about 7 years and been wearing aids for five. I am about to order the oticon behind the ear (the cadillac) and they are about $3200(can) each. I tried one in one ear while I had my Widex digital (in the canal) aid in the other and it was a marked improvement.
